I caught wind of a possible extension for end point for the CSA 5's that still remain. Our LP sits in on meetings with them store manager, asm's, HR and ssms. He said that corporate is sending emails wanting to know why our store hasn't placed us that remain. Store manager told a close "friend" in the store that corporate is thinking of extending the time for us (them) because they were expecting stores to place them.

Of course at a drastically reduced pay... I suppose they should know why.

No one is going to stay behind with that pay. I wouldn't stay only demand our original jobs back. Departments fking suck without being managed properly.

So.. your saying if you don't have another job by Feb 2nd your ok with unemployment? If they do extend it out why not say long enough to get a job, spring time is a far better time to look for work anyway.

I'm good with the unemployment. I've told the H/R person to basically shove the jobs she wants me to take up her *ss. If I told you how many CSA5's we have corporate would know exactly what store I'm talking about. It is a lot. They're not placing all of us..........no way. And, we aren't quitting so. They will terminate all or most of us. I'm not interested in lowering my pay 30-40% and doing the same job and more. When they bring on Sterling everyone is gonna realize they never should have took the lower paying jobs. This program it sounds like, doubles your duties by making you keep track and contact all your customers in Genesis AND doing the same thing in Sterling for more customers. If you think you are working hard now get ready to be completely overwhelmed,

Not me though. Terminate me and send me to the unemployment line. I'm ready right now.

Same way.

I'll take my UE and cash in my 80k in 401k and the spring off to rejuvenate and find the best place for me to go.

Not smart. First off if you are not 55 or older you'll get hit with a 10% haircut immediately. Second you'll be nailed with the highest tax % because the government doesn't know your current salary. So you could easily loose 20K of that 80K. Be smart..

I don't think Lowes will extend the CSA5's for another reason. payout of Spring SSEI. Oh, I know everyone is gonna jump on that. But, hear me out.

CSA5's were told they would receive no bonuses OR SSEI as a CSA5. But, Lowes may want to give a partial "feel good" SSEI to the peons so they stay on thru the 100 days. If Lowes doesn't pay out SSEI to the CSA5's as well, that could bring immediate lawsuits. If anyone who is a CSA5 that is in a store that paid out a SSEI and they were left out, please respond to this post. I'd be very curious if any CSA5's were left out. Lowes would pay out a cashier and leave out the old dept managers who were demoted for no reason? I don't think so.

Lowes will terminate CSA5's in Jan or early Feb.

I'm aware of what I'd get hit with.
I'm okay with it.
I'm going to pay off all my debt outside of a house payment and build up my 401k again wherever I start at. It only took me 10 years to get it there.
Thanks though.

We were never told we wouldn't get a SSEI. It's at a CSA rate as I've gotten two of them this year. No annual increase and that's where I don't think they would (or could) do it by the original terms of the 12 months would be violated as we signed on for 1 year at same pay

I completely understand where you are coming from.. I get it but I wouldn't mind a week or two longer just to get through Feb, even though I will have a full check and 48 hours of vaca that they have to pay out, unless of they walk me before the end date but they are so strapped for bodies right now I don't think they would do it of course it is Lowe's.

I agree with you on that, do it take care of the bills makes it a little easier to ride out the winter until the job market opens up. This is my 3rd restructure and third company that has done it.

So what Lowe's is suffering from, then, is their severe lack of forward thinking and/or consideration for consequences. They slapped together a plan over a year ago to cut the shit out of payroll. Get rid of ASM's, cut half the DM staff in half, create a new position with menial raises, and watch their bonuses and stock price swell. Oh those dreaded department managers would be begging for a job, even at a severely reduced rate. They would never stick it out until January or February to be let go.... They would never find other meaningful work... Or would they?

What Lowe's got instead was a workforce full of people determined to make things as ugly as possible. Lowe's didn't count on job markets picking up as they did. They didn't think people would have the balls to start over. They figured the banter that they spewed over the last 20 years about being the best company to work for ever would have people falling over in tears and trembling with fear over actually quitting and moving on. But, it didn't. People like myself told them to stuff their SSM job and quit after over a decade of service. And still others told them to blow their new offers for 40% pay cuts to be a specialist straight out their ass. In their short term lust for $100 stock, they didn't even stop to think about this scenario. The scenario of actually having to let go of thousands of people anyways and still yet having to pay unemployment. The scenario of their most knowledgeable staff finding other more meaningful work. People are tougher than they thought and now Lowe's is scrambling to find another short term solution to a long term problem... My guess is they will extend this offer and continue to try to scare people into huge pay cuts. It's not going to work, though. Their little dream of short term wealth May very well cost them everything.

Only CSA 5's left I know of are ones just ridding it out. Like myself. I still get that SPIFF money and probably go part time near the end. Lowe's is losing a lot of experience but I refuse to sell myself short..

So the LP in my store says there is official talk of an extension to March 2018. The reason they are giving is they don't believe they will be able to hire enough people when before spring as well there is suppose to be a new PSE sales position coming on line (out of the SM's mouth to me) They are suppose to split the program one for Lumber and one for Windows.

Anyone hear anything about that?

"If" you elect to..

They still have yet to give us a end date, I had to finally press the Hr Manager so I can start getting info to my states health and welfare so I can figure out what Obamacare is going to cost me.

I was just passed by for a specialist position. Currently CSA5. I did that position for 5+ years and a DM for the same department. Total 8+ years. The person that got it was already in that position just a lateral move to another store. They had 1 year experience and I trained them. Can you say CSA screwed. If they extend I will go part time. Why I am still a CSA 5.. I guess Lowe's doesn't want me. 12+ Years..

That solidified unemployment if you want it. Time to move on in January my friend. That scenario is happening in our store as well. But, qualified people aren't even given interviews because they know they would have nothing to say to the candidate except "you are f*cked." They are hiring new people for SSM positions from outside the store. CSA5's are given the shaft here as well.
