How many of u are proud to work for this company?

How many of u r proud of the way that informed us about the elimination of the spiff/ commission programs?

I am not a specialist but my check was also affected.

I worked there for 4 years as an appliance specialist. Made good money too. Until we got a new store manager that decided he didn't like specialist and accelerated us all to our final write ups for pety infractions. In hind sight it was a blessing because I couldn't make it losing half my salary. Feel bad for all those who lost their spiffs. That kind of made Lowes different from the others.

I've hated this place everyday for 3yrs. Can't wait 2 get out. At least we can steal for spiffs now. That's an open policy at our store.

we are all making good money? compared to what? I know people half the age of a sm that made nearly 50% more than he did..why? Well being a sm doesn't require a degree. I've seen manual labor jobs by local governments that pay as much of what a specialist makes.

Um I don't want a manual labor job. Likewise with others you have to finish a degree which I'm in the process of doing.

Lowe's doesn't really compete in the modern economy.

It can cut hours, positions, people for a short term gain but once gas prices go up few want to travel further and as a result you are stuck with the labor market you have. If no one wants to work for you then no one will.

My husband was proud to get a job at lowe's three years ago. Somehow all the corporate buerocracy has dampened his initial zest for promoting and standing up for his workplace. The unethical way the supervisors handle difficult circumstances and the constant threats and intimidation tactics that are used have gotten ridiculous. There is not one meeting that my husband attends that is positive, upbeat or even without foul language and brow beatings. I am so sorry that the company we thought would be where we would retire is nothing but an over sized, out of control, bully with no regard for the ones who are true, loyal and honest workers. I wish undercover boss would come spend a day at my husbands desk with him and walk the floors, and clean, stock, cut, etc... We are proud for the job, just not happy with the lack of experienced managers and uncertainty of a job on a daily basis.

I really got a good laugh out of this post. Back in the day, we did not rely on the spiffs and commissions but since the economy went to the shits, we had no choice but to rely on them. When your spouse looses their job after 29 years because the company closed because of the economy you have to rely on them especially when there are no jobs out there. Yeah there is McDonalds, Walmart etc. but they pay mim. wage and if you live far away, you would end up paying them so that you could work there because of the gas prices. It's not about managing your money at all, it's about COMPANY ETHICS. My suggestion for the younger generation, GO BACK TO SCHOOL. Companies are now requiring that management not have less than a Bachelors Degree and now that is equivalent to a High School Diploma. So if you think someone is going to hand you a management position like they use to, you better wake up. When a company starts cutting at corporate level, that is not good at all. So I would suggest for you to put your pennies in a jar and save them because when you loose your job, you should had saved your money and not relied on a pay check.
