Wow! First the city council said they did not have the funds to cover basic services. Then they convince the city's voters to support yet more taxes to cover these costs. Now they conveniently find $68M to continue funding this white elephant. Maybe they should consider another use for this boondoggle - it's called a golf course - even if it is direct competition with the county's facilities.

I remember the city manager stating that the city had over $200 million in redevelopment funds, money that can ONLY be used for redevelopment, or costs directly associated with redevelopment. These funds can't be used for general fund budgets. I also believe that the redevelopment funds must be spent by certain dates (i.e. they can't be banked forever).

With that being said, Measure C was needed to help fund general fund budgets. hopefully this project will come to fruition and bring in more sales tax revenue for the city.

Carson is stupid to fund a developer that the banks did not fund. So now, Carson is the bank and the bail out for rich people.

How stupid. Pay the money up front with no REAL securities that the project will ever come to fruition. The Developer can bail out and sell the property, that they only put 1/3 of the money into and run off with a profit.

Cover up a garbage dump full of toxic chemicals with plastic. How Stupid.

We pay our taxes so our elected officials can just hand over our tax dollars to billionaires.

At least one councilmember can sleep peacefully when the project BLOWS UP IN THE OTHERS FACES.

I thought you went to go live in a cave after the Carson utility tax passed. You had at least fifty posts saying how it was such a bad idea, but very few idiots listened.

Well A lot of the peole who live on the north east side of the Palos Verde hill are living on a land fill dump from the 1950's and early 1960's. Their houses have not gone anywhere yet! So maybe the project has some merit. Only time will tell.

The wait is over. The city council is back at spending as usual. They approved all city events last night despite the shortfall for this fiscal year. They are banking on not only Measure C dollars, but now the Stimulas dollars.
Give them more money and guess what the will spend spend spend.

What "lies" and "scare tactics"?

Is it a scare tactic to state that there has been a significant drop in sales tax revenue? How many more car dealerships need to close before you see that? How long do you think the Crysler dealership will stay open? Anyone buying Cryslers?

What exactly were the lies you peak of?

I will admit that I would have rather seen more reductions in spending at least until the Measure C money comes in. But they worked it out by shuffling budgeted money out of accounts so that they should not have to dip into the reserves for the rest of this fiscal year. Now we just need to make sure they don't spend up to the projections for next fiscal year, in case the economy continues to falter.
