These young men are cowards for what they did to this young man. I trust in God that justice will have the finally role call on these coward. Emery did the right thing to go home and they followed him. Why did these guys get probation? I will never know but I do know that Emery is more man than any of these cowards. I hope Seth learn a lesson from all this. Emery rest in peace baby boy --you are now in God's hands.

A rich white boy goes to jail for killing a brown boy, now that is news, because most of the time our court system is very much on the white side, that is change we can believe in
Now the black community is considering Asians as part of "their" group! Now that is funny. The race card has been played out.....you need to find another excuse for the actions people take....I know.....how about responsibility!

kinda messed up that the guy died. but in hawaii they try to beat up all the surfers who arent from hawaii! when i was there on vacation a group of samoan guys had to chase away the hawaiian locals because the hawaiian locals were trying to pick fights with the people who were there on vacation

What I can't understand is why some people go to jail for murder and some don't. And then some go to jail for a long time for simple stuff. Our penal system is a job secure job. The correction officers union have the biggest lobbying unit in our capital. They even have Arnie on their side. If some of you knew the corruption going on in prison you would be flabbergasted to no end. Believe me, there are innocent people in these prisons.
He received this sentence because of the testimony of his and his buddies bullying history, which was extensive. Too bad somebody didn't step in and stop it before all the lives of these young men were ruined and another dead. From all I've read everyone thought they were cool and protected by rich parents. The parents should have been there to kick their buts when this behavior first started and the if they didn't the community should have done something. Such a tragedy for all involved.

So which one of you are going to punch the other? This is going to be epic! A person gets killed by a punch debating on what a person who punches a person and kills them should get for a punishment.

Accounts I've read said that Kauanui was being kicked and beaten by 3 or more Bandits while on the ground, then he got back up and received the final punch.

I love that this kid (and all of them)... get a chance to prove himself in the way that they were so happy to take on in their city of La Jolla: fighting. They get to introduce the Nazi Low Riders, the A.B, the Mexican Mafia, the Black Guerilla Family, and all the rest--to Bird Rock Bandit justice.

It's a great thing in life, when you what you strive for. In this case, the guys wanted to be tough and all, and now look at them: they actually get to reap what they sow! How lucky!
Congratulations boys!

Totally innocent? Not so much. Seems like the victim was a willing combatant. Voluntary manslaughter, at worst.

One would guess 6M Jews didn't have Mana either by this comment. He probably won't get 20 years, like Hitler, he'll tapout.

One New Year's Eve in the early 1970s I was with 3 friends in a restaurant in Pasadena. Two other guys, one pretty drunk, overheard me say something to the waitress in Spanish. The drunk one said something like, "Don't speak "my" language" and poured his beer over my head. His buddy knew we were all bigger than they were (one of my friends was also a very mean looking biker "type") and made a very serious and successful effort to get the both of them out of the restaurant as quickly as possible. After, amongst the four of us we decided the guy was too screwed up and the risk of causing police intervention made it not worth starting a fight.

are you saying you've never heard of self-defense? in this particular case he was assaulted by more than one person and when he was hit he went unconscious falling and hitting his head which caused his death. that said many people have defended themselves and won. I'm one of those and I won in court.

Self defense should never be prosecuted. If it is and it is self defense, you should win.

These guys grew up in a very nice area and wanted to be bad boys. Now in prison this guy is with real bad boys and I think it must be a living hell. Punishment is being served.
