This is absolutely absurd... and one wonders why the economy is so bad! I was ecstatic to read about FDA approval, because in part, it helped me to sustain pregnancy to 32 weeks. Though our son was still premature, I truly believe this medication gave him a fighting chance. In addition, I had to travel 20 miles to a compounding pharmacy to obtain the medication. Because it was not FDA approved, it was not covered by insurance. I cringed at the $110 out of pocket expense I had to pay two years ago, for one vial. How sad, that it will now cost more WITH insurance. Many people will pay countless dollars in order to help them sustain a pregnancy... it's insane that these drug companies are allowed by law to take advantage of that.

That is insane! From $10 to $1500. Who in the hell can afford that...

I can assure you that most people will not pay $1500 when they can maybe get a similar medical injection from Canada or other countries for a lot less.

The Medical system is broken in the USA and needs to be fixed.

If women take proper care of themselves during pregnancy they wont need this shot.

You are extremely uninformed and probably very uneducated.

Many will die because of this action from KV. Hopefully public outrage will help them understand that the premature deaths will lead to lawsuits that will drive them out of business, will come to their senses, and will place the drug at a more reasonable profit point. I work about 60 hours a week but I feel compelled now to spend a few hours a night trying to spread the message until KV changes their position. I lost my son to a stillbirth last year and the thought that this company will put so many other families in the same situation is just unacceptable

Your mother obviously did nothing to take care of herself during her pregnancy with you.

Read up on this subject and why preterm babies occur. Maybe if you did some self education, you would not look so stupid when you post.

Captn Morgan. Think spreading the message is a great idea. THe only person I've had initial response from is [email protected] , haven't from [email protected] or [email protected] They have the (hopefully) impossible job of defending this action. Have sent to MOD and have had reasonable response. Have sent to a number of newspapers and posted my opinions on stock sites as well as a number of sites like this. The more the message goes out, the faster that the price structure will change on Makena and the fewer that will die

Might try political groups that are looking for ammo about health care legislation. Either side could demagogue this insanity.

it looks the Japan disaster and the Libyan problems are going to prevent the KV outrage hitting mainstream news.

Pity - It would have been fun to see Shrek in front of a Senate/Congressional investigation!!

Unless KV changes the price structure on Makena, they will hit the mainstream news. Believe KV beginning to realize this outburst will be nothing compared to when the first mother who can't get treatment due to their price gouging suffers a stillbirth. I pray that doesn't ] occur. If it does, many groups will be tracking to make sure every death is laid at KVs door, small recompense that it will this will likely drive KV out of business next year.
