As a displaced Chicagoan stuck down in Georgia, I'd be happy if I had a Vienna Beef dog, right now. Believe me, the South is no place to go for a good hot dog.

Can't get a real Chicago hot dog out here in PA...the A&W sells a vague copy, but it's on a regular bun. I actually don't mind getting a layover in O'Hare, if I can grab a real hot dog and a real slice of pizza while I'm waiting

Hot Dogs. Ick! Unless it's been nicely charred over hot coals, slapped in a doughy Sunbeam bun, onions and ketchup on top. Tolerable. Barely.

I regularly ship Vienna Beef dogs to my friends in LA, SF and even Florida. Once you've had one you spit out Oscar Mayer and the rest.

Whenever I go to LA I drive to Buena Park to go to Portillo's for a Vienna Beef dog, nothing else is nearly as good.

Ball Park beef franks. But I confess I miss the old heart attack pork hotdogs that they don't even make anymore.

The collective Chicago area ought to sue Sara Lee for purchasing and subsequentially discontinuing the Bests Kosher brand hot dog!

Since you put ketchup on a hot dog you have lost all credibility!

get the facts straight about ketchup:

Cooking low grade dogs like Oscar Meyer and Ballparks at home isn't the same as a Vienna, David Berg, or with a tear in my eye Best Kosher.

I never put ketchup on a quality dog but on the low grade ones it doesn't make a difference.

As far as Nathan dogs go I would rate them as lower mid grade about equal to Wienerschnitzel in LA and just above Oscar Meyer/Ballpark.

Chicago area Polish or I-tie sausage along with hotdogs are the best in the country hands down.

I was not aware that Ball Park was a product of Sara Lee - the bum boy company of Democrats.

I'll be eating MORE Oscar Mayer!

Asking people in Chicago about Hot Dogs is like asking someone from Arizona about snow. You people put some much junk on a hot dog, you can barely taste it anyway. That's why almost have of you picked Ball Park, a nice cheap hot dog you buy when your kids have a bunch of friends over!

You want a real hot dog, jump on a plane, fly to NY and grab Nathan's or Papaya King! While you are there, grab some real pizza while you're at it!
