Flying Fruit Lid Sparks $150K Settlement
#1 Nov 18, 2010
First, he misused a tool. That is a safety violation. He could have used a hammer, why didn't he? Maybe he isn't THAT stupid, but he did use a screwdriver for a hammer...on a glass jar. Why didn't he use the rubber disks made for that purpose? Why didn't he use the wrench that is made for that purpose? Why didn't he ask his wife to do it? It is obvious that he put the whole thing in HOT water to create that much pressure. If you warm the lid but not the glass the lid expands, the seal softens and it may remove more easily. If you heat the glass, it expands also and may actually make it tighter. He needs to repeat high school physics class! The judge should throw the case out.
