How politics pays: Former House Speaker Hastert still getting $...

U.S. taxpayers are spending more than $40,000 per month on office space, staff, cell phones and a leased SUV for former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, even as he works as a lobbyist for private corporations and foreign governments. Full Story

Wow! Even for a low-down-crass-Republican, that is a low comment.

You @55wipes are soo bitter! Get over it - HorseFace Norm LOST!(remember how y'all told Sen Wellstone's supporters to get over it when Norm won? HEED YOUR OWN WORDS!)

Everytime a repuke gets into hot water, you lowlifes blame Obama and Pelosi and Reid. Get a life - hold your party responsible for their actions.

Fat@ss Hastert needs to be charged for stealing. End of story!

The liberal article fails to mention that this applies to democrats as well--not to mention what pelosi costs with her use of air force planes for her travels.
The article DOES mention Democrats (Foley).

This is a nice way to distract from the millions being used to buy votes in the House and Senate every day. Pelosi and Reid make private deals to buy votes using our tax money. How about the party that promised no more earmarks having 5000 in the last bill? What a farce. And you worry about $40,000 a month for 5 years? What about the millions to Nebraska and Louisiana to buy there Senators? That is a real scandal.
Nice distraction from the topic.

Am wondering why no details were discussed about Democrat retirees? Are details only available for Hastert? Democrats don't take advantage of these perks? One might expect a little more balance than to imply that Hastert was the only one to be getting these perks and that somehow they bordered on being illegal.

I DARE YOU to google Sibel Edmonds. There's an interview with her in THE AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE magazine, I think the November issue. You can access it online for free.
If you can't do that, tell me why. Does the truth scare you? Does information scare you? Are you afraid your pigheaded opinions might be based on hogwash? Let me answer that--YES. Which is why you avoid possible sources of factual information, such as the American CONSERVATIVE (my caps) magazine.
But that's exactly the point of the whole "media bias" discussions.
Yes it's true that there are a lot of factual stories that reflect badly on BOTH sides of the political aisle. As you correctly point out, it takes an interested person to take the time to look into things and do research and get into facts and figures etc.
But here, laid out simply and clearly for any CASUAL reader to look at, is a story which shows what scumbags our elected royalty is, but the example case they chose to put in the limelight just happens to be a Republican. How subtle. Sure they mention Foley and Wright and even Gingrich in the article, but we don't get any of that superb investigative insight at all on those.
You mean to tell us that they couldn't find even one single former Democrat House speaker that they could use to do any comparisons with? Not one? How about maybe another former Democrat House member that had a comaprable situation? Not one?
Hey that's what I call real objectivism and balance.
And since most of the voters are indeed CASUAL readers and observers of current news and events, we end up with a partially misinformed public; and in turn get these unprincipled, corrupt, ignorant, egotistic, self-serving luminaries in public office.
I would go so far as to say that the public did not elect Obama and the current crop of liars running the show...... the American popular media did.

I agree with what you said, except for the "dumb" statement. They know what saps the American taxpayer and voter is, and that allows them to get re-elected and steal some more. They write rules that protect themselves, give large pensions, and even give themselves lifelong health care which the very taxpayers they steal it from can`t have themselves....that just for starters. That is "smart" on their part.
I know what you ment though, I just had to say how I felt. Because it`s the American public that is the true "dummies"....that is, untill they get fed up with it all, and revolt. Which is fast becomming a reality.
I stand corrected, you made a very good point as to who are the real dummies, and you are absolutely right it is the American voters for voting these leeches into office.

In defense of the American public (a very small defense I must add), the generally uninterested and somewhat ignorant public can only make a decision on whom to vote for based on the information they are given; whether it be true; false; or incomplete. We as a populace are too lazy to actually think things through.
