The New York Times had an article on May 5 regarding two of my clients who had ObTape, a similar mesh sold by Mentor, now a part of Johnson & Johnson. The article also deals with the FDA approval process. Since the article has come out, I have been amazed by the number of calls I have been getting from women who have been having similar problems with other mesh products. I agree with Lana and Suzanne regarding the need for FDA reform in approving these products.

Dear friends,
I have been suffering from a implantation for almost four years. The mesh ( prolene type ) was placed with the TAPP method. The TAPP method is rearly performed in the USA. Currntly I have two fistulas draining puss. I have been to six surgeons and non of them had any experience in removing a mesh that was implanted with the TAPP method. After extensive research I found that in Berlin Dr. Arlt Georg specialises in removing meshes. My mesh removal surgery is on June 12. I am really scared even though I trust this surgeon. Any thoughts please, will be mostly welcomed. Thank You so much for your time! |

I too have had a nightmare of pain and suffering from a mesh bladder suspension surgery. After a year of misery, part of the mesh has been removed, but now I am back where I started as far as needing surgery to repair my bladder suspension. I would like to know if anyone has had a surgery to repair the area where the mesh was removed and what materials they used in the surgery. Is anyone using natural ligaments for this repair? Thanks for responding...

I have a TVt-O done on April 9th and I have been in constant pain since then. As far as we can tell it has grafted on a nerve and it is effecting my left leg. I have burning all down my leg, I feel cutting pains inside of me and my groin feels like it is being poked and cut with every step. The only position that I am not screaming in pain is reclining with my left leg elevated. I am so tired of this. I am seeing a neurologist this week so we know which nerves are affected and then an extraction surgery the end of August. My Dr however said one of three things will come as a result of the surgery 1) He will get it all out and I will heal and be back to normal 2) He will get it out and I will not heal I will always be in pain or 3) He can not get it out or cut a nerve by error and I will be immobile for the rest of my life. I am very very scared! I am also having the groin pain on the right side now and I am starting to freak out about this more. I am thinking of possibly joining the law suit but I am a Canadian. Do you all think I would be able to join. This is unacceptable and I can not take this pain I don't want others to going through this like I am. I am a 37 year old mother of 4 I want my life back!

I had a hysterectomy about a year ago and had the mesh put in to help with bladder incontinence. I know there is some nerve damage, My doctor keeps telling me everthing is as it should be, but having sex is painful and this is causing a lot of tension between my husband and me. We were both looking forward to an improved sex life after the fibroids were gone and now this. I wonder if there is any help or will I always have to deal with this.

I a triple hernia repair in 2002 and since then I have had soo many medical problems I lost count. I have seen 4 different specialist, had 2 colon check up, multiple scans etc. Everytime I go to see a doctor they look at me like I am weird. I bleed out my butt atleast 2 times a month, have ED, and I move my bowels min of 10 times a day. When I go to the VA they just laugh at me,: they is nothing wrong with you, and went it comes to my ED the doctors give me Vigra to solve the problem witch works less than 10% of the time but the doctors tell me I should be happy with that. Ever since I had this operation my life has never been the same...in fact it has been nothing but a nightmare. Oh and the fact the my finace and I have had 11 miscarriages and she has two children of her own from a prior marriage...makes the mental abuse on myself unbarealbe. is there anyone one else having the same issues please email me at zampatti2000@yahoo.com
