I hate to say this but my mom went two years w/o a problem and within four mouths she was in such bad shape from the TVT that she went outside and shot herself in the chest and died. Her pain was so severe she couldn't stop it with pain killers.

Robert- I am so sorry for your loss... what a horrible story.

I run a website where we tell these stories. The FDA and mesh manufacturers will have trouble denying there is a problem with so many people coming forward. I wish your mother had gotten the help she needed in time.

Could you contact me. [email protected] I'm in Jax Florida too. Just chat and we'll go from there... thank you

I am a lawyer in Canada who is handling about 15 cases to date. Today I had the unfortunate task of advising one woman that my firm could not proceed with her case because the limitation period had expired.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, do not wait until it is too late to bring an action against those who are responsible. If you are not sure whether you have a cae or if you want to bring an action, go see a lawyer and get some advice so that a limitation period does not expire. Protect your rights. It is crucial.
hi Paul, some of us had the mesh implanted earlier , like in my case, it was implanted aug of 05 , had surgery removal in dec of 05 and again in early 06 and again in april 07 and the last one oct.3 2011 , in 06 I called numerous attorneys cause i already had removal surgeries and i want to file on J&J but no one would take my case , i did file reports with FDA & with Ethicon , question is if we're still having it removed (i still dont know as yet if mine is all gone) how can they put a statute of limitations on us ? i know you're in Canada but all im asking is your opinion, thanks Sue

I have recently started investigating the mesh because my mother had it implanted in 2008. She started having problems from the erosion about a year ago. She went back to the Dr. that done the surgery and he said that she need to find a pain management Dr. to help her. She was allergic to many pain pills and was having trouble with colitis so that made it even harder to take pain pills because they slow your bowels too. In the last three weeks she was in the hospital three times with the colitis and all the pain from the mesh. I would see her doubled over on several pillows in the bed begging for relief. Well last Sunday she committed suicide due to the high level of pain. I am very angry with the doctors and the company that produces the mesh. I have hired an attorney from Texas to deal with the defective product and I am fixing to hire an attorney for the malpractice part of the claim. I use Pulaski and Middleton from Texas. They said I would not have to go to court so I am believing they have come to some sort of an agreement with these companies to settle these claims. They said once they received all the medical records they could tell me what my compensation would be within 30-90 days. I guess I will have to see what they come up with. I am not settling for a small amount.
Oh I am so sorry for your loss !!! I know that if wasn't for the blessing that I'm already on antidepressants this constant pain would be worse and my ability to handle it would be so very compromised. I can understand her desperate search for a release from her pain and I am so sorry she felt she had no other alternative. Please advise others going through this torture to seek help for the depression that that can multiply the pain already being endured. Know that I care and have you in my thoughts and prayers. Be angry....you have every right to be, anger that causes us to move forward to change a wrong is a survival skill, and one that is so justified when the quality of a person's life is reduced to the point that they end their life. I would like for you to email me if you would. I am a fellow meshie from Kentucky, U.S. and there is some info that you may be interested in. Hope to hear from you! DANNI [email protected]
Hello Danni, thanks for your empathy, I know for certain that without anti-depressants I would be in a dangerous mental state as the pain is 24/7 unless I'm totally blitzed on pain killers. I was so distraught last Friday as a specialist I was referred to ignored the evidence that I brought with me to prove that the TVT Secur tape fibers were coming out of my skin in the vagina and anal areas. He was so condescending and was adamant that fibers were not coming from and could not come from my anal area.He still wanting me to go for Physiotherapy to calm down the Peridonal nerve which he already stuck needles of freezing into and it didn't reduce my pain one little bit. Well my bottom end won't be looking at his face again !!!!! I tried to get him him to tell me how many meshes he has removed and he evaded the question, said his surgery calendar was booked up, and that If the TVT was the problem I would be better off going to Vancouver or Edmonton to get the mesh removed. I will go back to my family doctor and ask for a referral to an experienced doctor who has successfully removed this friggin mesh, pardon my language. Hope to hear back from you, you new meshie friend , Nonie

Nonie I am sorry to hear the treatment you are getting. Mama was on a antidepressant but it must have stopped working. I am so mad that I could take the law in my own hands but I am going to let the legal system take care of it. I am fighting a brain tumor but I think we have it in remission. If I miss one day of my antidepressant I start coming apart. After it happened I stopped that very day from taking my antidepressant but my dad begged me to get back on it because he needed my help. So I started taking it again but I am afraid that if I ever get to the point that I am terminal I may just take the law into my hands because I have never been one to let someone cross my path. I am very easy going and quite and don't mess with anyone but I am sick of being sick myself and then the doctors getting away with killing people.

Robert, you must take your meds.. When we are fighting chronic depression and illness and then experience other trauma, such as love of a loved one or injury such as your mother and I have experienced we have to be extra vigilant about our mental health. I lean on friends who I can vent to and family that loves me. So far I bear no malice towards doctors in general, but some of them should get their heads out of their butts and educate themselves about the products they use in order to help us. I do bear malice and ill feelings towards the manufacturers of products that have not undergone stringent testing. Do you have a support group? everybody needs someone and it sounds like you and your dad need each other more than ever. Some days its hard to find something to be thankful for but try we must, even if it's something small. I'm thankful for this forum, that you are back taking your meds, and that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel even if our eyes are blinded by pain ..when we need the eyes of our friends to find that light. Be well, and take one day at a time. I am taking one day at a time and being so thankful that as of yet this mesh injury is so far life altering and not life threatening.Nonie

I have finally read all the posting. I now believe that my mother didn't have colitis but it was the mess doing something to her bowels. She was in the hospital three times within two weeks with what they called colitis. I am hurting so deep in my heart now because she knew of no way out but to commit suicide. If only I could have found this site a month ago I might have been able to help her. The strangest thing about the whole thing is that we ask that the coroner check her mess while he was doing the autopsy and he said she didn't have any mesh in her. I am now in the process of getting the coroners report. She shot herself in the heart so the bullet could not have done anything to the mess. I don't know..just confused.

Robert I am so sorry for you and your Dad don't blame yourself for not findng out soon enough, we have all felt the same, if we had only read of the complications and life threatening results we would never have gone ahead with the operations. The big problem is we all trusted as did your poor Mother, we trust that they have our best interest at heart forgetting a lot of people get very rich offering these surgeries whilst we suffer!!
Have a look a a UK website TVT MUM very educational and supportive it will help you with your research!!

Ladies,

I have sent several Canadian ladies to Paul Miller, therefore if your in Canada I truly urge you to get hold of him immediately!

If your not in Canada and need legal representation please copy and paste the questionnaire below into an email to me so we can get you into the hands of an attorney to see if they can help you. There are a lot of attorneys that are not turning ladies away due to statue of limitations since every case is different so DON'T give up! But please don't wait either!

If you do email me PLEASE put TVT into the subject of your email to land in my main folder and not spam.

Sincerely,

Barb~

You sound like just I what I've experienced, including my doctor doing over 1000 surgeries and no complications being reported, which was a big fat lie! He knew of the FDA warning in 2008 but never told me. If you have find a doctor who will remove it ASAP. I know there are hundreds of doctors who can implant it but only few that have experience removing it properly. I had to travel to UCLA, there are doctors in FL, Cleaveland Center and in Texas and in TN. I've been reading this and several other blogs and so far I've not heard of any doctors in Chicago area that have expertise in removing the mesh. I didn't want to spend the extra money to travel out of state but when it comes down to it, what is my health worth? Yeah, it's been very costly and will continue to be...I know exactly how you are feeling. You feel betrayed and is shocked that this can go on in the US. How can a doctor not tell you that the medical device he is implanting never had a clinical trial, not FDA approved and if your body rejects it there is no way he can remove it and even if some how it can be removed, you will never be pain free...
The tech that did the ultrasound and CT found what he described as "a foreign body" in my groin area. They are sending me to Barnes Hospital in STL to see a specialist. I honestly don't know what will happen, but I am scared. I can't sit up for very long and the leg pain worsens when standing or walking for any period of over 30 minutes. Haven't been able to work, can't sleep, and feel depressed. YES, I have been lied to, and feel like I have been cheated out of my life for the last 2 months. I am going to contact a lawyer.

I just had the TVT sling mesh surgery. I had the surgery on Oct 3rd and I still can't void on my own! I have had them insert at least 4 catheters so I could urinate, but no dice! I just had a procedure done today Oct 17th where the doctor snipped some of the mesh away from the urethra so I could void. NOTHING! Now she says I will have to see a urologist. I said " I could urinate before this surgery, why can't I urinate now?" The doctor said she didn't know. This is a Kaiser Permanente Facilty. I have been happy with their care up to this point. What can I do now?

You better find someone to get it out before it starts to form the scar tissue and they can't get it out. If you are having problems this soon you are in trouble. I hate to be so blunt but there is no easy way to put it. I found out today that they implant two different kinds of the mesh made by two different companies. She was really suffering and we didn't realize it. I blame the doctors as much as I blame the companies. This mesh has been around over 10 years and there is no way that a doctor doesn't know what it will do. They are legal murders. If it was an animal that this mesh was being implanted in the would have recalled it 10 years ago.

Barb-

I wish you would answer me.

I run a website http://meshmedicaldevicenewsdesk.com and as a journalist I believe those who are injured need to understand who you are and what you are doing. Do you work for industry? If not, what are you doing with this very private information? Are you shopping cases for a finders fee? Is that legal?

Again, a full disclosure is needed here.

You may contact me privately, but this information should be transparent. My contact info is on the website.

Jane,

I am in West Texas with my son which his father was in a horrific accident a week ago and passed away this last Tuesday, therefore replying to you of full disclosure of who I am in not my highest priority at this moment so I would appreciate you not trying to make me look bad to these ladies!

I have been on here for several years helping the best I can. I am not chasing down cases or I would be on here every day pushing for cases!

I am a Legal Public Consultant/Researcher for many law firms and have actually researched and assisted these ladies with representation from firms I have no ties to because of location.

I don't have to explain to you who I am if someone emails me I always let them know who I am but have nothing to hide just busy with family at this time.

Respectfully,
