Hi all Im having the tape removed next week, I cant take the pain anymore. Another course of antibiotics this week a whole heap of pain killers. I have been offered some sort of injections in 3 months similar to botox, Im going to leave well alone and just be happy that I can pee when I sneeze and cough and not have to pee in a bag when it all went wrong if I left the tape in. I will be happy to wear a pad for life and be pain free again I hope

Good luck and god bless for Monday Renee..... I will be sending healing thoughts to you

I had the tvt surgery 3 yrs ago. I had so many problems. I was urinating constantly every 20-30 min. I stopped drinking fluids just to keep me away from the restroom for more time.I was loosing urine like never before. I had started off just loosing a drop here and there and my physician suggested doing this surgery. Dumb me. I suggested waiting as my son was getting married and the urologist told me the longer i waited the worse it would get, so i did it without research. 8 mos later it was time to have my second surgery and this time i was in so much pain an had infection after infection. I have pieces of tissue come out of me i asked the urologist and he denies i being tissue but it is pure white and i never had it before. I am so mad and i have a awful stench coming from my area below all the time. I want to have it removed but my urologist said it cannot be done. How can i get it out? Who will take it out in Michigan where I live? I think all physicians doing this to people ought to be punished.

Thanks Debbie that means a lot x x x x

I really feel for you June its awful isnt it. I was so distressed when I had that awful smell and could only describe it as one of my kittys abcess bursting. It made me feel disgusting. I stopped going out as I knew if I could smell it, others must be able to too. I had 2 full weeks of the strongest antibiotics

Its total rubbish that the urologist is saying it cant be done. I know its not a very nice operation as you have 3 years of tissue thats grown around it but there must be someone that will. Do you have such things like we do in the UK for private medical advice

I have done an internet search for you and came across this

http://www.suggestadoctor.com/index.php...

you can contact them if you cant find anyone near to you on the list. I hope it helps the actual google is

http://www.google.co.uk/search... just cut and paste it

I hope you find someone and keep us posted

Love and peace

I have first grade cystocele which developed during my first childbrith (normal). It took really long time for doctors to diagnose my cystocele somehow :-( I had my second child by c-section and that time got my bladder problem corrected but alas my baby birth was successful but my bladder operation failed. well I still face uncomfortable moments , worried if monopause will make it worst ? Taking care of kids with cystocele is not that easy when I see mothers carrying their kids on back I pity myself ...

Well, update...

I had the mesh removal surgery yesterday, done by a uro-gynecologist specialist at a large city women's hospital. I had to stay overnight.

They had to try several times to get the IV in, I got sick from the anesthesia, sore from the catheter and ended up with a crushing migraine.

But the important thing is that the doctor said the surgery went well, and he was able to remove all of the mesh, except of course the very ends which they cannot safely get to.

Although I am exhausted, and of course, very sore and tender, I honestly noticed an immediate relief from the constant feelings of the pressure and pain that I had been feeling since I had the TVT-O procedure done 3 months ago. So although I am only one day post-op, I am actually feeling very positive about the procedure.

It just feels so good to know that the !@#$ mesh is *OUT*.

Thank you all, it means a lot to know you guys were thinking of me!

Helen, I will be thinking of you on Saturday. Please come back here and tell us how it went.

Some random thoughts... after the original TVT procedure, I bled like a period for well over a week, then spotted heavily for another week.

After the mesh removal (2 days ago) I have only really spotted, and never had any "period-like" bleeding at all.

Also, I was MUCH sicker, sorer, more bruised and swollen after the original procedure than I am for this one. The first procedure just really "kicked my butt", I was so out of sorts and uncomfortably miserable for well over 2 weeks. My doctor at the time told me that it was unrelated to the procedure, that I was likely "fighting some virus". Maybe so.

I truly don't want to *dis* my first surgeon (a gynecologist), I like him very much and I know he cares and he did his best. But I do honestly think that going to a big hospital and a specialist (a urogynecologist) was a good move for me for the mesh removal procedure. I know that the 2nd doctor has more experience, and it just *seems* like he had more skill, too... and was able to do a bit of a "better job".

I am also doing my kegels (although somewhat *weakly* right now) and just hope/hope/hoping to retain at least some of the benefits of the original procedure. The doctor says there's a decent chance of that.*Fingers crossed!*

Oh, almost forgot... my surgeon on Monday asked if he could videotape my procedure (without any identifying information, etc., of course) Said that he is doing more and more of these mesh removals, and since I was such a perfect example of full mesh exposure/erosion, it would be an excellent teaching tool for other physicians learning how to do it. I said "OK"; I hope it can help another doctor help another woman.

So now my silly husband is teasing me that I'm a porn star and/or that the video will show up on the internet or You-Tube!!! haha! ;o)

I had TVT 5 years ago. Great success for my leakage problem BUT I immediately started having urinary infections. This problem has increased to the point that I now have them almost monthly. I also now have urge incontinence, especially after lying down - 5 seconds to get to the bathroom in the morning! Does anyone else experience this problem? My urologist(not the Doc who did procedure)says I could have an operation to "loosen" it. I would like to find a urogyn who has experience in removing the tape - any recommendations in mid-atlantic region? I would like to hear from someone who has had the reversal procedure and if successful.

I am in PA, but I would absolutely recommend the uro-gynecologist in Pittsburgh who did my mesh removal procedure. I am so happy and grateful to him. I am only 3 days post-op and already feel 100% better. I am only slightly swollen and sore and don't need any pain medication at all.

The spotting has stopped, I am peeing normally, and honestly feel *positive* and hopeful (for the first time since I had the TVT done) for a full recovery. I could KISS him!!! ;o)

Hi mom1965 I am from Delaware but not far from Phila.PA. My OR was done in Wilmington, DE. Since it has been 5 yrs since the TVT I wonder if a 25 lb. weight gain is part of problem? I am working on that and if no improvement will seek removal of tape. I do not have any pain, just the frequent UTI's.

I cant see weight gain causing uti ..I think its the mesh from the tvt...because with me I had uti before maybe 2 or 3 a year but now every time I am off antibiotics it comes back...so hopefully in july I will get a answer then....did you see your dr lately?
