Mixed JJ earnings leave investors little to cheer

Stocks are ending mostly lower after a mixed earnings report from Johnson & Johnson put a damper on hopes that sales were rebounding at big U.S. companies.

Companies continue to shed employees,-their single largest expense.
It's great for the bottom line short-term.(Thus 9900 DJ index.) But these shareholder profits are short-lived if no one has jobs to buy products or has no confidence in our economy. Then there will be yet another taxpayer bailout. Soon the tax revenues will dry up too.
