Just wanted to let anyone with problems in the UK know that I have successfully removed my TVT and am now pain free, It was removed by Miss S elneil in london who was absolutley brilliant. The operation took three hours but she really is the best and if you are thinking of doing it please use her as she has removed more than any other surgeon in the UK. I am 6 months post operation and wanted to let others know that there is hope, dont give up. Am happy to talk to anyone who would like to discuss.

hi Anne,

This is great news - you must be so relieved! Thank you for starting a new post- it makes good sense to do so, although I have been posting extensively on another regarding legal action, when in fact support and information is more relevant to me.

I had a TVT in February this year, problems from the start, and am having it removed next Monday. I have two urogynaecologists removing it - their 5th - and know that they are skilled and have had success in complete mesh removal. I'd be very interested to know how you are, what recovery has been like, and anything you feel relevant. My email is lizreece@btopenworld.com

Many thanks,

Liz

Thank you for your quote. You have given me some hope. The surgeon who did my operation said that it can never be removed but I am going down a different road to hae the tape removed. I was ill from day one of its fitting. Thaks again.

Like Liz, I want to say thank you for starting a new Topix post with a TVT removal success story. You must be so thankful to have such a positive outcome. I had a partial removal a month ago (after a year of post op pain)and I'm still feeling very sore and concerned that I might still be having pain caused by the remaining mesh which may need to be removed in the future. Could I ask you how your surgery was done? Did you have a laparoscopic procedure or was an incision made in the lower abdominal area? I'm curious to know which is thought to be the best way for a successful outcome.

I had my TVT removed on May 9th and now feel absolutely fantastic. The TVT had given me nerve pains that were both shooting and like pins and needles; I couldn't walk; I had terrible groin pain and burning sensations; and the tape was showing slightly through my skin, it was so badly put in. Now I can do everything normally - walking, running, cycling, and have a proper relationship. Minor leaking but I'm doing my exercises which I'll see a physio about; and hey, I don't mind wearing a small pad.... why didn't they discuss simple stuff before surgery?
I'm very happy and appreciate every day out of that black place with the mesh hurting me.
It was removed by laparoscopy by two excellent urogynaecologists at the John Radcliffe hospital, Oxford.

Hi Lisa,

I do feel for you - it's horrible, and so frightening.

You can email me on lizreece@btopenworld.com about my laparascopic removal if you want - my Oxford surgeons are willing to take referrals on the NHS although there is a wait. I was back to normal after 10 weeks (including running and cycling)- am amazed at how well I feel. But not all recoveries will be the same time frame due to the differing complications that have arisen with the TVT for sufferers.

Hope this helps,
Liz

Lets not forget that removal is considerably easier when removed very close to the original surgery to put it in.
When left in longer it can be difficult or impossible.

Hi Anneday4. Please can you post about Miss S Elneil as am about to have my tape removed by her and would like to know what to expect after the removal. Did she remove all of your TVT and how are you now? What was your recovery like? Please can you let me know as I am worried. Thank you.

Hi Liz, I would love to talk to you. I had Tvt in September 2011 and now have problems that are particularly tricky to cope with. I have pain, dragging and pinching in the pelvic region inside my labia on one side and a sharp knife pain inside the other, nerve pain in the groin and feel like I have had an implant of Holly leaves in my pubic area, and I can't walk properly as my pubic area is too tight. I think it will need to be removed as it is getting tighter and tighter and is obviously not going to get better on it's own. I will e mail you,
Jackie
