Hi I have tried a different named drug same generic drug....tramadol long acting...xl zytram here in Canada just got approved last month is GREAT. love only one pill in 24hrs and good coverage. I have thoracic outlet syndrome....a problem with my muscles and nerves in my back neck, head, shoulder and get chronic pain from this as well as nerve pain and muscle pain. I would recommend it.
I am a registered nurse as well. I was injured at work.,....my work area is oncology and pain is my area of expertice. I loved my job...miss it but do recommend the drug....picked it up in mexico before it was made here and tried it....last Dec..06...hope you have success if you try it.

The main purpose of ER or XR formulations is to make dosing regimen more convenient. The formulation of the medicine dose not affect it effectiveness. As for tramadol, this page has many interesting and "should know" medical facts:
