Bill Ackman brought ron to penneys and waited too long to bounce him. the board was filled with yes men. Frankly sharholders should sue the BOD for gross incompetence...

I think it is sheer personality of RJ. He has a very strong will and was used to succeeding despite the odds. Part of his style was to lead those even the doubters to make it work. The thinking was that the company needed a jump start in order to survive long term and those with the ability to stop or not stop bought into the plan.

Actually, I think the vision was good, but the implementation was not planned enough to allow it to work. Too many mistakes that doomed the plan.
We were just starting to see some positive results from customers this year, but the damage from last year was too much to overcome. I never hated RJ and I didn't doubt his sincerity in wanting this to work. It can work under the right circumstance. JCP was too mired in the past to see what the future is bringing. Too many people resisted - employees and especially too many customers.

My main hope for jcp is that the powers that be don't throw out completely the gains made behind the scenes that the average Joe would not be aware of. I have read enough posts to know there are many team members who know what I am talking about.
