Yes, Quad does have stock...it may not be a publicly traded stock, but they do. As employees we are given shares of stock as part of our Personal Enrichment Plan (retirement fund).

We cannot sell the stocks, except back to the company when we retire.

Ahh the Kool-Aid, so many drank it when QW bought out World Color and ranted about how wonderful they were, morons(Billy and his corporate BS). Anyone remember those that said it was the beginning of the end?? Most of them have been laid off since then, odds are Quad will close most of the plants they acquire especially the union ones!

What are you guys thinking? Come on now, World color is twice the size of quad do you really think quad has that much capacity to handle even 25% of what you guys print. Sure some people might be asked to move around to other plants and so on but lets face it we at quad need to have you guys on board 100% if their is a chance this is going to work out.

__________

Worldcolor is not twice the size of Quad/Graphics. Aside from that, there is currently SO much overcapacity in our industry that Quad could easily handle 25% of WC's work.

Remember that Quad laid off around 500 employees all around its network, and 500 employees could constitute a good-size plant.

I agree that we all need to be 100% on-board for this all to work out. I sincerely hope that it turns out the best for everyone.

Dont think Quad does not see trouble down the road for printing (even worse than now) This is a Plan they had for a few years. Their goal is to make a profit , They have been adding debit for awhile now. They saw what happened to Quebecor World when they took the gamble on the man presses then the market went south. R.R.D. got beat by quad on this one. And R.R. has diversify in what they print Quad is almost all Magazines. So they really don't want to shut down any good world color plants, the ones that can become run like Quad plants, It's a chance to get some of R.R.'s work.
if that can happen then fewer plants will close.
I betting that some Publishers will now choose to swap printers, to this new Quad with some new ideas for world color. Many Publishers love Quebecor world color and want to keep printing in those plants. This Deal is big in Printing. But some plants will close, not enough work for everyone. But if yours closes then you can think about something else and get this plants closing thing out of your mind. Remember They will owe you Vac pay + part of your retirement , the rest in payments over maybe 10 years , 401k - taxes on it + unemployment, and any money you have saved. So most people will be good for 6 months, learn the ways to get medical care you or family may need.
You maybe glad it happened now than 2-3 years from now. Hope is there because Quad always planned better than Quebecor. Sure would have been nice to had a health bill pass congress that covers everyone now wouldn't it ?

Remember do not quit, You have a job until they tell you otherwise. Then they will have to pay out some money. If you up and quit without 2 weeks notice then they don't have to pay you for vac earned this year, I know it wont be much yet, but it's adding up.
then also no unemployment. And no good report from your manager for job interviews. Stay lets see what happens, unless you get a killer job offered to you, or maybe even just a good one if you have to.

If you do get out of printing !

The pep is a joke. you will get fired for something miniscule befor you ever get to the point of retiring. Qg could be actually worth working for if stocks and "profit sharing" werent locked up. Employee morale might be positive for a change if there was something real to work for. If this merger means anything at all for quad employees its more transparecy on the part of corporate.

I've worked for world color before it was quebecor world. When quad opened their new plant in okc I was there knocking on the door before they even put one up. I hated working for quebecor every minute I was there. Queb had little to no respect for the employee. Quad is a much better company all around. Pay, Benifits, management, communication, equipment, technology, I could go on and on but the list would be very long. I hope most of the WC employees hang around to see what it's like to work for a real printing company that knows how to spend a dollar.
