Most of these comments are about the plant conditions. I'd like to hear what the office atmosphere is like.

Do quad plants have maintenance departments?

Sounds good for the most part...but what about the pay scale? Many of us at WC got the dirty end of the stick when the company wide pay cuts were doled out. If Quad's pay scale is even lower than what we're at, some of us will be in more financial trouble than we are now. Hope the shift schedule is flexible enough to allow for a second job. I pray that I'm wrong.

Maybe if they dump John fatboy Kent we can all get a pay raise. Feeding That 510 lbs. slob cost lots of cake.

Yes the quad plants have maintenance dept. In most cases they are seperate groups. ex: press maintenance, finishing maintenance, building maintenance, ele maintenance, grounds maintenance.

I cannot comment on the pay scale because I simply don't know the answer. My gut feeling is that wc employees will not recieve a pay cut, quad is fair they are not out to screw you over.

The "conditions"?? You ask like it's a jail or a barn or something. It's an office. People wear blue. There are cubes and computers. For the most part, people are respectful, friendly and polite. It is WORK. Most people like their jobs, and it shows.
What else might you be expecting?

Well.......you've dragged it out of me. Most locations (in WI anyway) have very nice cafeterias. You do have to pay. There is no cash though. Everyone has an id/swipe card that will either take the money from your check or a prepaid card you can buy/reload in any cafeteria with a special kiosk. You also use it for all vending machines, entry into your plant, prescriptions from the in plant pharmacy, copay at the quad doc,....etc, etc.
There IS free use of the in plant fitness centers.

My question to any of the Quad employees right now is for you to tell us which plant you are from and the way things are done there. Worldcolor was made up of plants from many different companies. I work in Jonesboro, AR. We were originally a WA Kruegar plant. I hope that we are treated fairly by Quad. I expect some changes in our plant. We have been told that Quad wants everybody to wear uniforms. Is this true at all plants? Any info you can give on the way Quad plants are run will be highly appreciated.
Please share any info you can about Quad's way of operating a plant. Thanks
I work out of QuadTech's building in Sussex, WI. My department services the finishing lines and some press lines in all plants includeing Poland that have our Finishing Control Systems. I have daily contact with plants in WV, NY, WI, OK, GA and NV. Each state's plants have their own quirks/uniqueness due to whether thay started as a Quad plant or not, and due to just how things are done in their region. But for the most part, Quad policies and standards are upheld. A good example is the Martinburg, WV plant which was OpenFirst back in '06 I believe. They went through acquisition and last time I was down there, in January, they seem just fine being part of Quad. It's a job, there will always be good and bad parts. There will always be those that praise highly and those complain constantly. I've never been happier at a job as I am working for QuadTech, I think it's a solid company that cares about their employees. Sure we ALL wish we we're paid more. Who doesn't? Everyone in the industry knows times are tight and there is always concerns of future employment. I believe Quad Graphics and World Color joining forces will secure more jobs then they could seperately. We have alot to give each other from what I hear.

Quad built the W VA plant- it was not an acquisition

Fredricksville, WV was the Open First facility that was purchased. Martinsville, WV was built by Quad.
Regardless of that, most employees from either of those plants that I have contact with are quite happy.
Point being, that Quad is what you make of it. You can choose to go in negative, or positive. There are many choices in life, but Quad gives you opportunity to choose which works for you. The more you give Quad, the more you get back.
I'm just saying........
