Hey, what holidays do you observe at Quad. Worldcolor has observed Good Friday and typically the day after Thanksgiving. Just wondered if Quad closes for these days.

We don't do holidays! We have a revolving shift, they consist of 3 - 12's, 2 - 16's.
We rotate and fluctuate. 90% of people are happy, the other 10% never are happy.
But it is a beautiful thing overall!
You World people most likly won't have to deal with this, until your union contracts run out in 2011.

Then all things will change!!!!!!!!
You either sink or swim!
Join us or hit the highway!!!!!!!!
Plain and simple!
Get It?????????

Not all plants are union.

WC is a publicly traded company. Guess what, you soon will be the same. Things may change for you as well.

Im not from a union facility, and zzzzz is right, things are likely to change for everyone, and as you said, some will be happy and some wont, but isnt that always the case in any company.

4 wheeler quad

What are you talking about?

Quad does observe holidays as much as possible. All production people will have off for a holiday as long as their is not a very hot job and even if their is only very few people would have to work and they mainly consist of volunteers. I cannot remember the last time something has run on Christmas and I have been at quad for 18 years.

Quad does try to avoid overtime. In the past overtime was basically as much as you want to work but over the past 2-3 years overtime has been at a minimum if at all.

"Then all things will change!!!!!!!!

This whole paragraph is bullsh%t. This is not the attitude of Quad just of a particular moron that may happen to work at quad.

I hope that most things work out for everyone. I think this can be great for printing and everyone involved with quad. I can't wait to travel and meet many former wc employees that will soon be quad employees

Currently Quad does consider the Friday following Thanksgiving or Good Friday to be holidays.

In 2010 we have 10 holidays

My question to any of the Quad employees right now is for you to tell us which plant you are from and the way things are done there. Worldcolor was made up of plants from many different companies. I work in Jonesboro, AR. We were originally a WA Kruegar plant. I hope that we are treated fairly by Quad. I expect some changes in our plant. We have been told that Quad wants everybody to wear uniforms. Is this true at all plants? Any info you can give on the way Quad plants are run will be highly appreciated.

Please share any info you can about Quad's way of operating a plant. Thanks

For the most part things are done the same at every quad plant. Quad has very good comunication from plant to plant and everyone is on the same page 90%of the time. We do wear uniforms and that is everyone even Joel wears a Quad blue uniform and the reason for that is,it started with Larry he wanted everyone to look the same thus leveling the playing field. The only difference in uniforms is that managers have their names in gold and everyone else has their name in white. And for the record the uni's are comfortable. All production floor employees and people passing thru are required to wear safty glasses and hearing protection. Safety is the HUGE at quad if their is a safety concern it will get handled asap. We try to maintain our equipment to the highest level and personally I feel it give us a huge advantage. Our managment basically has an open door policy if you have a concern or issue 95% of the time it will be handled and taken care of. You can even email Joel and he will answer within a short amount of time with a solid answer. Everyone has their own email and computer acess most of the time right in your work area we strive to be a paperless company so many things are done on the computer from ordering uniforms to refilling perscriptions.

any more questions?

It sounds very Utopian. There are two areas where the Quad/Graphics mentality is totally different from that of Worldcolor.

1) communication (both inter-plant and intra-plant)
2) maintenance of plants (especially ROOFS) and equipment

Worldcolor is woefully behind Quad/Graphics in those areas, and we're hoping that improvementss will be made - and soon.
