Memphis has idled three of the older presses, and another two(that are very old) are being scraped. The two big Alberts will probably run for a considerable time.
There will probably be some type of merger or colabration between Olive Branch and Corinth. Either way, one of those plants will most likey not be in the picture after the end of the year.

whell now in atglen there is only 2 presses down, Both very old. we had one offset press down but the now started it back up to run some of there new work. We are told that 1 press will never start up again and the other will only run half the year, but who knows our management always lies to us anyway!

Anyone know anything about how to get your pension out of qw since they have file chapter 11?

QW can't touch your pension, it is in a secure company by the name of State Street in Boston Ma. All retiree's have received a letter telling them QW can't take any of their pension money to pay any bills under Chapter 11. That's a relief to know, but if QW stops putting money into the fund, then the US government takes over and the retiree's get a percentage of their pensions. If that should occur State Street will notify all the retiree's.

Have heard nothing about the Depew plant except that the company now wants to go with a 401A for the pension plan. I hope people know 401A is not covered by the US goverment department, and it can be used to pay off debt. Example....ENRON.

I was sent a letter by QW before they filed Chapter 11 stating that I had X amount of dollars in my pension. Along with that letter was the paperwork to return to QW about how I wanted this money, monthly or lump sum. I did all this paperwork and returned to QW. This was all prior to them filing Chapter 11. They have now informed me that the lump sum is no longer an option for me. If I sent back this paperwork prior to them filing Chapter 11, shouldnt I still be able to get the lump sum?

I would contact whoever is holding your pension to find out what is going on. I myself never heard of them offering a lump sum for a pension, just monthly payments once retired. I definitely would contact a lawyer if you get no satisfactory answer from QW or whoever is holding your pension.

I left the company in July 2006 and got my lump sum pension and of course had to roll it over into an IRA. I feel very fortunate that I received it and I hope your pensions are there when you need them

One hopes that they did not use it to provide the hefty severance package that they had to deliver to the fired CEO Lucas who had no reason to be there in the first place. What was he doing there when he failed miserably and turned a nice juicy filet mignon he was handed at Sun Chemical into cheap greasy hamburger ground chuck.

I AM WRITING THIS POSTING AS ONE OF QUEBECORS EX WORKERS IN CORBY ENGLAND.
QUEBECOR WORLD HAS JUST DUMPED OVER 300 WORKERS ON THE SCRAP HEAP IN THE UK, THEY HAVE JUST WALKED AWAY LEAVING THE WORK FORCE TO CLAIM OFF THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT FOR WAGES OWED, LUCKILY THR CANNOT TOUCH THE PENSION FUND THAT IS SAFE, YOU CANNOT BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU ARE TOLD BY THE SO CALLED MANAGEMENT, WHO BY THEIR OWN INEPTITUED CAUSED THE DOWN FALL OF THE COMPANY LOOSING BIG CONTRACTS. i HOPE THAT THEY TREAT THE WORKERS IN THE REST OF QUEBECOR PLANTS BETTER BUT I DOUBT IT

Quebecor Corby was just the start. I predict that the rest of the group will follow in the months to come. Quebecor Media is positioning itself to drop the printing group like a stone - you can see that certain managers are being re-employed by the parent company leaving the printing side of things out on a limb. Good luck to those of you that remain with the group and good luck to the 300+ workers and their families at Corby who have to claim wages owed from the government. Quebecor was not an honourable company to work for.

Apparently all of QW has been rotten to their employee's no matter what country they have plants in. What you in the UK are experiencing we here in the USA also have as they have in Canada, union or non-union it really makes no difference to them. How they stayed in business this long puzzles the majority of their employee's including me. Their loyalty has been and always will be just to themselves, the hell with the rest of us. I agree it's only a matter of time before the printing part of QW will be dropped like a stone to quote you, I am surprised it hasn't been done already. I wish all of you in the UK and anywhere else QW has dumped on you the best, and you receive what is due to you moneywise. Good Luck.

Being from the Corinth plant we are hearing that Olive Branch will close it's doors; but they are probably hearing the same thing about the Corinth plant. Dean Wisensteins (short man with sharp nose) in plant this week looking over things. Got the managers running wild licking his boots!

I can tell you as a former Fleming Foods employee when the gov gets your pension you can look forward to about a 50% reduction in your return But on the up side - it will be there when you need it.
I think the math depends on your years or service and what is in the fund at the time of closing.
One thing I have learned from Quebecor it DO NOT invest in the company you work for- Stock Options are for the rich and the insiders
