Intel Chip Boasts 2 Billion Transistors

Intel Corp. has built a new chip packed with a record 2 billion transistors, more than doubling the processing power of a line of its chips for supercomputers, the company said.

A computer is only as fast as it's slowest part, so you my have a 5 gig processor and 10 gig of RAM but if the board can only archive a transfer rate of 33Mhz to 800Mhz then that is the limiting factor and your computer only works at 33Mhz or 800Mhz.
