This writer, as usual, knows what he's talking about.

Also beware of places that offer "free download" of something. The stuff itself is not free; you have to pay to activate it. But the site wants to get high ranking when browsers look for "free."

Some free stuff - legit, really free - is only available on condition that the user pass along the goodies. What that means is, if you include the free stuff into your own work (as opposed to just having it or using it), then you are obligated to offer your own stuff for free, too.
