@christian patch, a there are legal circumstances in which a search warrant is not necessary. Reasonable Suspicion and Probable Cause are still sufficient reason to look further.
Selling bongs while the aroma of pot is in the air would be reasonable suspicion in any reasonable person's mind. Even to a common person on the street like me, this passes the smell test because the people detained didn't pass the smell test.
I'm pretty sure that's not true and is a violation of the 4th Amendment. They can detain the suspect until a warrant is obtained, but they cannot search without consent, plain view or an arrest.
.
From the article:
.
"Deputies learned of the event resulting from a noise violation on Friday, and responded to the complaint only to be met by event organizers who denied the Deputies entry onto the property. Event organizers complied with the request to turn down the music at that time."
.
"Early Sunday morning more than twenty state and local law enforcement officers responded back to the party with a search warrant resulting from observations made by law enforcement."
.
So you see; they had a warrant.
.
They (the perps) also had ample warning that the police knew that there was something afoot.

Cops, always out there to improve their public image. Its no wonder they hang out only with their peers and end up eating their six shooters when they retire.

I've been waiting for this place to get busted. The kid should get charged with operating a business without a license. And anybody that goes there, knows what goes on. I'm amazed it hasn't happened before now.

I didn't even know people in charlottesville knew how to party I have lived here almost a year now and have had no luck meeting anyone to party with. Cops didn't have to leave a preggo woman in that condtion tho that is just wrong.
