Fifth street extended? They'd better have several aisles full of Velveeta and Mountain Dew; Bagels, roll mops and chopped chicken liver won't fly down there.

We could have used a Wegmans instead of an unwanted mega high school.

Mmmm, I can feel myself getting fat on asiago bagels and cheese rolls. I hope they put in a giant food court, beer bar and a wine selection to rival Gainesville's. Too bad its locating way over there. Oh well, Cville Market's produce is cheaper and better anyway; kill two birds with one trip.

I guess they have to figure out how to make a supermarket look like Monticello or UVA and where will they put the solar panels and wind turbines before they can break ground.

Exactly! The ARB will find some way to tick off the developer to delay or ruin Wegmans from building. If it goes through, the day before the bulldozers move in, some group like the "Sustainable Legion of Organic Fruitcakes" will file a lawsuit blocking the work until a study is done to see if it impacts the stink bug population.

ARB had some quibbles for Shops at Stonefield but didn't really slow the development, which when completed, will look just like thousands of other exciting shopping centers across the country.

I don't know that we need another grocery chain here, but Wegmans is amazing.

Probably not, but it does mean that the other grocers will have to step up their service and products because they're going to face stiff competition. Also, the mid-quality might move out to outlaying counties as Food Lion pretty much owns all of the rural areas.

Oh, "a few things to be worked out" Translation, lets see how much money we can extort from them with profers and if it isn't enough, we don't like your designs, goodbye. Albemarle has has several offers to do something with that site over the years and all have failed to follow through. Believe it when you see it and not a second sooner.

You don't live on the south side of town do you? Your choices here for large grocery stores (without having to drive through cross-town traffic) is Food Lion and Giant. And even then, Giant isn't convinient the further west you live.
