Idaho Power proposal clouds solar home investments
The utility announced in December that it wants to quit paying some solar panel owners who generate more power than they use, hike the fees it charges solar users for hooking up to the power grid and increase the rate they pay for the power they purchase from the company.

"Idaho Power officials told the Idaho Statesman that the charges will ensure other customers aren't subsidizing solar-generating customers."
Yeah right, Idaho Power is such a stand up business they CARE if electricity costs more to the ratepayer?
NO, what they want to do is secure the monopoly on energy production and not have individual homeowner/generators supplying themselves and their neighbors during peak usage times of the day.
For every home or business that installs solar on their roofs, Idaho Power doesn't have to file an EIR with the Government, go to court to defend a project or install new power corridors to ship the product to market. What it boils down to is that Idaho Power doesn't like paying an individual homeowner the same price for the power they generate on their own system that the power company charges them when they use their power. Idaho Power doesn't want to pay their own retail set rates. Instead, they will use those who install solar on their roofs as an excuse to go to the PUC and try to jusify a rate increase while natural gas prices go down.
