Tricare is horrible. Had it for over six years now, always fighting to get things covered.
I hope UnitedHealth will improve the system at least to a manageable level...

The Healthcare system is broken in the US Military, just like every other system. Huge waste of taxpayer money...

TRICARE FOR LIFE is wonderful - as was Tricare prior to having Tricare for Life - if it hadn't been for Tricare 6 yrs. ago when my late husband had two tumors removed (one brain & one lung) we would have had to file bankruptcy. It is wonderfor for retired military and active duty military - you must have had a bad experience in the military to think this way.

I am an employee of the company that is loosing the South TRICARE contract.. It's sad that over 900 people are loosing their jobs. Especially when we met standards so much that they continued to give us the contract for so many years. These last few years, we even excelled more than we had before. Error rates were less than .01 percent and standards were exceeded. Politics and putting money in pockets of the big guys on capitol played a big part.. Let me warn you TRICARE customers. You will get what to government pays for.
South customers.. You will be sadly missed

This is just not good that Tricare allowed Aetna & UnitedHeath Group to win the bid. Aetna & UnitedHealth Group(owner of UHC) are successful but only because they do not pay their member's claims.-That is just the name of the game these days and now our Military and former Military(whom deserve the BEST) will be dealing with these denials too. BOTH Aetna and UnitedHealth Group use a 3rd party administrator called McKesson which tells these 2 insurance carriers what to pay or not to pay, yet McKesson will (in reply) say that they only provide these 2 carriers 'tools' to go on and the carriers decide whether they'll pay the claim. McKesson claims to follow AMA(American Medical Association) guidelines since McKesson hired Foresight.-Foresight tells McKesson what AMA guidelines are, which procedures codes are payable but then McKesson allows these 2 insurance companies to decide for themselves 'if' they are going to pay or not! This is a FACT! Aetna and UnitedHealth Group do everything they can NOT to pay and it also has to do with the Insurance Company's Medical Director as well. Wish our Government had not been tricked into allowing them to win the bid.*If only Tricare knew the truth about both of them. After April 1, 2010, Tricare will never be the same which is a shame for those whom served our country! I admire our military. I do not appreciate how Aetna and UnitedHealth Group wrongfully deny claims in error.

I wish you well, but the Tricare contract has a learning curve. By the time they learn the biggest piece of the pie (the South Region), their contract would be expired.

We moved from tricare west to tricare north, and it's horrible. The worst we've had in 10 years. You can't even change your PCM over the phone. Both my kids lost home OT services after moving to Fairfax/DC area. Both kids have diagnosis of Autism. We're on ECHO/family plan. So much of getting equal services.

Humana Military Healthcare Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Humana Inc., was notified by the Department of Defense of its intension to extend Humana Military’s current TRICARE contract through March 31, 2011. The original contract renewal scheduled for April 1, 2010 has been replaced by the one year extension providing additional time for the government to consider the award for the next TRICARE contract.

This page has been posted for our trusted providers in the TRICARE South Region to ensure you are kept informed on the status of the TRICARE contract and reassured of business as usual with Humana Military through March 31, 2011. Together we will continue to work as partners in providing TRICARE services to our deserving beneficiaries. We will post updates as they become available.

United Healthcare can only do what the Tricare contract allows them to do.....don't blame the contractors, they follow the red tape.

United Healthcare can only do what is contracted.....they can improve nothing. They can only do what every other contractor is already doing.....but with absolutely NO experience and one big learning curve.
