This is the same system that the Fire Department has been using, and they too have had many problems. The two departments in the city where a functioning radio can make a difference between life and death. When is enough going to be enough. Give these departments that protect us equipment they can rely on.

They should have gone with Motorola 7.x trunking. Then they could incorporate Fire, EMS, Police, and any other public service requireing comms with a very small amount of Frequencies. Harris makes great tactical communications equipment but, Motorola is known for its trunking and conventional XTS and XTL series radios that work perfect. I have been working on the motorola systems for 9 years now and have had very few problems.

Motorola has been the 2 way radio of choice for probably over 50 years now.
What happened, did they save a nickel on the bidding?

what i want to know is when i need them to be there are the dispatchers going to be able to get them here. untill all problems are fixed they should have some sort of backup system running to ensure that the people of this city will be safe and have the people who need help get it...

Makes you wonder how the people in the news room will get early dibs on story's in Milwaukee now. No more scanners for the news people..from the looks of things there's no way to listen to Open Sky traffic. No scanners on the market to do that.

The system currently in use in most of the city is the back up system. The new open sky radios are only being used on a limited basis due to the even higher lack of reliability. Should have been tipped off by the fact that the TYCO toy company was the parent company of MACOM when this whole thing started.
