Since the government gave billions to the banks for their screw ups, they better approve the money for more raptors. If for nothing else then so people can keep their jobs during this tough time. At least we know the money will be used for good, unlike the money the government gave the banks. But I don't have faith in Obama doing the right thing. Maybe he'll prove me wrong. At least we can hope.

"THE MONEY WILL BE USED FOR GOOD ?"

Do you remember how the Soviet Union bankrupted itself ?? THEY SPENT TOO MUCH MONEY ON TOYS FOR THE ARMED FORCES, AND WRECKED THEIR ECONOMY IN THE PROCESS !

I'm sorry to see another 50,000 people hit the streets ADDED TO THE FOUR MILLION THAT HAVE HIT THE STREETS IN THE LAST YEAR OF BUSH, but the BILLIONS THAT THE RAPTOR WOULD EAT ARE NEEDED SOMEWHERE ELSE.

HEALTH CARE, FOR INSTANCE.

We can build the Raptor later. The plans won't go away. Meanwhile, let's build something that Bush tore down for the last eight years -- THE MIDDLE CLASS OF AMERICA !!!

Well social welfare programs are always the bain of a society they neither provide long term jobs nor do they provide long boost. They are in plain simple terms a waste of money. An old adage a bird in hand is wirth two in the bush applies here. The liberals have used the last four years of the Bush presidency to put thier giveaways in place, remember the Democrat Liberals have controled the legislative brach for the last four years and look at where we are at... We can not stand four more years of Clintonomics masquarading as Obama-omics so hold on to your suspenders dingo times are going to get worse for the so called middle class under the give away policies of the liberals...

All they have to do is take the billions and billions of pork out of their spending bill... oh wait, they're calling it a stimulus bill. That would more than cover this and actually save jobs instead of spending without creating a single job. Same bullcrap different administration!! Only difference is one has Rep at the end of their name and the other has Dem at the end.

If we don't need them, the money should not be spent. Just like the failing banks, the government is leveraged in a dangerous way. We are in serious trouble. Jobs will be lost no matter what is done. The government must let the risk takers that lost fall so that other companies can move forward. If bailouts are not halted we all may go down.

Air superiority is critical for us in many ways, the most important is because it saves Army and Marine infantry lives.

With conflict growing around the world because of financial issues, weakening our military power is unwise.

This shows yet again how naive Obama and his administration is. "Being respected is more important than being loved"-Dick Cheney.

I think you've got it Ollie...

Man, it's going to hurt and hurt bad but it's going to hurt just as bad if not worse if the 900 billion goes through and it will take a heck of a lot longer for the hurting to stop.

Shut up already about America loosing around the world. America isn't dying from loss of air superiority.

Patrick, Dick Cheney didn't originate that idea. Machiavelli did, noting that being 'feared', which includes respect, is more important than being loved.

Warmongering GOPers have sunk America far below both 'respect' and 'love' by American adversaries.

Lockheed needs to do something for America, like how about a hybrid engine that gets 100 mpg?

How about develeoping technology so auto engines can be converted to gas, electric, or other hybridized options for a cheap price?

America can go a year without the next new F series edition.

F Student of history, you are spoutin' Dittohead Propaganda.

That terrible Social Security sure was terrible for America.
That Medicare and Medicaid sure are terrible for America.
Food stamps sure are terrible for America.
Federal pensions sure are terrible for America.

Do you know how many veterans and veterans' families take advantage of all of these social welfare programs?
You are a sicko if you think American should just abandon these folks so your political ideological can be pure. Rush Limbaugh is a lying sack of crap. He gives money to war veterans, yet his donations are nothing compared to the billions that the government gives to them and their families, yet Limbaugh would force these families to suffer without, perhaps depending on Limbaugh's tiny factions of charity giving.

F student, you need to realize your purist ideology is not compatible with reality. It results in death, mayhem, suffering, chaos, crime.
America spends more on incarceration when it could save money on education and 'social programs' for minority and poor youth.

The only jobs created by incarcerating millions of Americans are prison guard, and they are getting lower wages as governments outsource to private contractors, contractors who shave off a nice premium for executives.

Wake up to reality, Bubba.
Limbaugh ain't gonna feed all the vets and their families. And if I know military vets abandoned by their government, they don't take kindly to a**holes who rob them to satisfy rich Jabba the Limbaugh and billion dollar payouts to executives.

F'in' wake up already!!!!

Guess America can go without jobs too if this 900 billion dollar special interest spending package goes through. The average everyday American will never see a dime of it, oh wait, yes we will, we'll see as it is yanked right out of our hands. Only the special interest groups and their favorite politician will get it.

Unbelievable, the economic liberalism advocated by the GOP and Democrat centrists sent all those middle class jobs abroad.

I know computer scientists with master degrees being replaced by Indian subcontractors making pennies on the dollar. The US Army is bringing back retired systems analysts to train Indian programmers.
GOPers gave the green light to the 'captains of industry' to 'hire out', so now we got a workforce of 'foreign mercenary labor'. And computer programming ain't lawnscaping, neither.

And if you ain't noticing today, corporate executives are the 'captains of industry' who betrayed America for quarterly returns and annual bonuses.
"Financial treason" has been the result of the GOP economic liberal policies. To top it off, Bush let the 800 billion dollar bailout go directly to CEO, CFO, COO and executive class bank accounts.
Tell me how superior the GOP economic leadership is?

Educate me on the wisdom of deregulating and allowing corporations to police themselves!!!!!

As for the Obama Bailout, the sky ain't falling yet, so keep your cryin to your pillow until the final bill is signed. Better yet, why not call Obama himself to voice your fears.
He might listen.

FOR THE LAST EIGHT YEARS, THE REPIGLICAN RICH GOT FED AT BUSH'S TROUGH, WHILE THE MIDDLE CLASS STARVED !

WE DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING FROM YOU PEOPLE WHEN THAT SWINE TED STEVENS WANTED TO BUILD HIS BRIDGE TO NOWHERE. WHEN BUSH BORROWED BILLIONS FROM CHINA TO PAY YOU TAX CUTS. BILLIONS THAT THE KIDS OF THE MIDDLE CLASS WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR !!!

The GOP needs to do a few more years of penance before THE REST OF AMERICA PUTS UP WITH YOU, AGAIN ! GO STAND IN THE CORNER UNTIL 2016, WHILE THE DEMOCRATS CLEAN UP YOUR MESS !!!

It is far more than just jobs that justifies the F-22. Maintaining the industrial base to build such aircraft is necessary as several countries in other parts of the world develop similar capabilities. Further, this aircraft cannot be defeated in the air by anything, a capability unmatched anywhere, which is a very significant deterrent to a conventional potential enemy.

Good idea, terrible funding policy. It's called a Ponzi scheme, and it's going to bankrupt the next generation of adults who will be responsible for providing benefits for their elders.

Medicare is a good idea but suffers from the same Ponzi scheme funding mechanism that Soc Sec does. Medicaid is a disaster. Abused, overused, no incentive to get off the public dole. Unmitigated loser of a government program, probably the posterchild for ill-conceived, poorly regulated federal programs.

Right you are. Food stamps is another oft-abused federal program. No incentive to make ones way in society. Why work harder when the government will give it to you for free.

Now this one is truly egregious benefit. We taxpayers get to pay for government workers' defined benefit pensions while we have either no pension at all or defined contribution. What a scre*w*ing we are getting to feather the beds of government workers, a good percentage of which are useless, arrogant and superfluous to getting any job done (and done well).

Did you even read the article? You said, and I quote : "the BILLIONS THAT THE RAPTOR WOULD EAT ARE NEEDED SOMEWHERE ELSE."

Billions? The article clearly states that for 20 more raptors, which is what they proposed be built, costs $523 million. Where do you get billions out of that? Love retards that can't comprehend what they read.

Also, comparing this purchase to what happened to the Soviet Union is completely ridiculous. First off, making these planes won't bankrupt our economy or the US government. Second, the Air Force thinks we need the planes. I think they would be the ones to judge whether we need them or not. Third, we give billions to the banking industry, yet this is only a drop in the bucket compared to that at $523 million. This is guaranteed work for Americans. The money we gave to the banks is going for what? The CEO's next sports car?

No, I'd rather we spend our money on something the Air Force thinks we need that will keep Americans working. Money well spent in my opinion.

You people just don't get it. Just because the Bush administration screwed up doesn't give the Obama administration a free pass to do the same thing. It's time to help the average everyday American not line the pockets of special interest groups.

Fool me once shame on you... Fool me twice SHAME ON ME!! I'm not going to be fool twice.

President Obama promised us change and accountablility so where is it? So far all I'm seeing is the same old bullcrap. The only difference is Dem follows the last name instead of Rep.

They are feeding these special interest groups our hard earned money just so when it's time for re-election these groups will reward them with huge campaign contributions. Guess what? Those contributions are OUR money!

Well, seeing that Bush has destroyed our economy and committed us to the middle east, we need the fighters. At any moment a crisis could erupt, requiring our forces to be well equipped. Bad economic times are a prominent cause of wars. WWII's major cause was Germany's depression. They suffered from hyperinflation. They played the blame game much like we are now and Hitler came to power. Ergo, WWII. Our economic problems are caused by our country as a whole, not a select group of people. No, they did not help, and made matters much worse, but too many people were living well beyond their means. The crash in the American economy is like throwing a large rock in the pond; there are massive repercussions. Now we can't pay off our debt to the Chinese. And that's not including the ticking time bomb of the middle east. Iran is POed, Iraq is extremely unstable, Russia and China are begging for our heads, and Israel is about to go ballistic. We simply can't afford to cancel this program. The funding is there, set aside specifically for this purpose, and Obama doesn't have the balls to use it. Health care is a mess, as are countless other programs. These problems do not, I repeat, DO NOT have a single answer. They each need TLC of each their own. And you can not fix one by ignoring the other. Neither the Dem. nor the Rep. have all the answers and WE ALL need to work together to fix these problems.
