Strength vs Degree of Roast
Saying that dark roasted coffee is stronger than light roasted is like saying a body builder that has a darker tan is stronger than a lighter tanned one. Strength refers to the coffee to water ratio. If you like strong coffee, use more grounds to the same amount of water. Likely, you prefer the smoky, roasty flavor of darker roasted coffees which is probably all that you are tasting at your preferred brew strength. Good luck to you.
