make sure you didn't give them the wrong deposit and account number. Call 1-800-HR block if you have any questions

In the office when you do your taxes with block you can ask an exact date of when you should receive it and they have a form they can give you an exact date.
It is not H&R blocks fault either that the IRS holds your refund for whatever reason. This can happen in any tax office... Mine was held for prior debt 10 years ago and i went rapid. That wasnt blocks fault it was just the IRS holding up the process.

It depends on how fast you want your refund. If you want 8-15 days you can ask themm for an exact date of when to expect a refund. If you don't get it by that date it could just be an IRS hold up and not the Block Bank's fault at all. Especially if you have prior year debts or anything. It could take longer for the irs to approve . and on anything hr offers it says UPON IRS approval...
it is not their bank that holds it up..unless, you owed block for tax preperation one year and never paid it. also, if you do a same day loan and are improved it can be on your card as soon as you leave the building.
and you always have the option to accept or deny anything from them.\

A story I found on the internet:
H&R Block Emerald Prepaid Master Card Call For Action
A Colorado Springs woman thought she was getting speed and convenience when she paid close to $150 for an H&R Block Emerald Prepaid Master Card. In just a few hours she was spending her tax refund. But she later learned money she withdrew to make a utility payment was withdrawn not once... but twice. And no one seemed to know where that second payment was. "It was new this year so I wanted to try it because who doesn't want their money right away... but it's just not worth it," says Tammy Cisneros. Cisneros says the utility company didn't get paid twice... but her statement shows two withdrawls for $218.95 were made from her card. She says calls to H&R Block only led to more frustration. So after spending countless hours on the phone for close to 2 weeks she called me. Cisneros says, "It was a waste because now I have money missing and with them telling me, it's going to take another 10 to 15 days... it's ridiculous. I could've waited 5 days for the check." I called H&R Block and a spokesman apologized, returning the $218.95 to Tammy's card. He says every once in awhile a file is duplicated, but they did remedy the situation. The bottom line... it pays to be patient. Yes, you can pay close to $150 and get your refund via a debit card... but beware the amount you withdraw from an atm may be limited... and it will cost you...$1.50 per withdrawl. Accountants suggest e-filing ... and having your refund electronically deposited into your bank account. It typically takes 7 to ten days.... but you get every dime of your refund... without any fees whatsoever.

Yvonne wrote: I understand your pain. I filled on the 4 of Feb and was told I didn't qualify for the 1-2 hour loan, but did qualify for the 1-2 day loan. It's the 14th of Feb and still no taxes. I called their 1-800 and 1866 phn numbers and have not been able to figure out anything and still not money. I used H&r Block for the last 3-4 years with this service and never received any problems like this. What kind of scam are they running? I know that they we sued a couple of years ago, maybe another lawsuit may make them close down or give us back our money. Cause ITS OR MONEY!!!!!!!!!! Most of us use it to pay bills and catch up. Let me know if anyone is interested. I'm calling the media and writing to the Governor of my state So you didn’t qualify for a loan you applied for because the lending party determined you may be a credit risk to them based on your credit worthiness or you only worked 4 months of 2007 and your refund is as much or more than the entire income you made for 2007 ....HMMM I wonder which responsible lender in the U.S. would end to that, but what do I know about your personal finances I’m only speculating right? But I do know in any case it takes close to 15 days to get a refund after you’ve been denied a loan. From my calculation you’ve only waited 10 days so please

Okay Guys. I just spoke with my parents they have been going through some of the same issues as all of you. They filed on Feb. 5th '08 with H&RB They were told that it would be on the their Emerald card by a certain time (it wasn't) soon after, they began to call the number on the back of the card. For days it stated that 00.00 balance was on the card. Soon they were able to get in contact with a (wanna be customer rep). They had no information on my father (who is the one that all the information was filed on__He is the bread winner in the family) They didn't have him, but for some reason they had my mother in the system. They told them to wait and it should be deposited in the bank (on the card) after a few days still nothing. Yesterday (02/22/08) my father called them again this time the rep. told him that they have no record of either him or my mother in their system. This puzzled them because they had received a call from the preparer (H&RB) employee who had checked their system on Feb 20th and advised them that the money has cleared and will be deposited on the 22nd (Feb.) and if they have any problems they needed to call the office and they'll try to assist. You know what happened next, no money deposited. So my father called the bank again, this time they told him that he has not been approved (approved for what, he still doesn’t know. They never explained) and it would be on or after the 29th of Feb. before anything could be done. Still they had no idea what was happening. So today 23rd they called the preparer back and they assisted.
Okay__This is what they found out, I hope this info. can assist someone or give them piece of mind? They were advised by the preparer via the bank that the funds have cleared by one bank and it has been deposited into H&R Block’s bank so it has to clear their next. My parents were assured that they would be able to pick up their money on the 26th of Feb.(Still to be seen). If not, the preparer will contact the bank for them and they will get to the bottom of it. What I see is that they're not telling anyone that the money has to go through 2 banks and clear before it can be released. So if you don't know, you will call the customer service line and have to spend approx $2.00 a pop for assistance, so someone is making money from everyone’s calls.
Just F.Y.I for anyone who may be going through this same type of situation___GOOD LUCK…

Okay, this is crazy! I had part of my return placed in a savings account. H&R, took half of it and put it in a Line of Credit. I did not ask or approve this, they just did it because I had taken advantage of the 500 early refund. Now beginning on 2/20/08 I was told it would be put back into my account in 2/3 days, NOT! Today I was told that the person on the 20th did not request the transfer, so it was done today by a man name Jim in Support Billing, or something to that effect. Now Chaisa said they have made the transfer and my money will be avaiable in 2/3 days. It took less than five hours for them to take the money from my account, but I got to wait 2/3 days to get it back. Remember I have been told this before. The card is not good to use! They take out too much money in the area of FEES! This must be against the law, I am going to get a lawyer, this must be stopped!

Gary wrote: I am still on hold trying to reach someone at HR Block Bank. I got my Emerald Card, used it and paid all the fees. I did my taxes on line and received my refund last week. My refund was short $529. I know some of this was fees kept by Block and I am cool with that. However, those fees are only around $50. The other money should be for my Emerald Card, but after a week I still show no payment applied to the card. I called Emerald and they were no help. I called the local office and was blown off there as well. I know at this point I am not sending any money to Block for the card and will not pay any fees for being late on my payment. They want $476 by tomorow. They already have the money, apply it. they may take the money off your card not realizing it was paid for beccause a preparer put a note in there EA advance repayment and so it took it off twice. It just needs to be put back on. Call the 800 number.

I had 500 in my savings account and i called and inquired how much was on my card and to my horror hear i have 200.50 on my savings account. wherever that 50 cents came from!.. grreeeat. So i called and about a million minutes later received a guy who was JUST told what was going on.. he was not informed. I guess that if you got the early advance in the beginning and put any money on your card in the savings account. from one certain date to another they can take that 300 - 500 to the side (if a preparer checked yes that you wanted to continue doing the line of credit thru the year) and they "hold" it for you until feb 29th when you are able to get your line of credit. Meanwhile, I didn't sign no agreement either and on top of it my daughter birthday party is in a few days and that money i was holding in savings was for that. it is flustrating. if anyone can help us we would be greatful.

I am experiencing many of the same issues as all of you. Their uninformed, unskilled reps are most of the problem here.(However, I do feel there is a "scam" going on where they are holding onto money that isn't their's to hold) But if you keep demanding to speak to a supervisor (which they will tell you they can't do)call over and over until you get someone who speaks and UNDERSTANDS the English language and eventually you'll find someone who pretends to care anyway. I was eventually connected to Client Relations after 43 minutes of waiting, explaining and transferring, they opened a "case review" for me. Gave me a case number and a number to the district manager's office. Was told I should have case reviewed and a call back within 6 days. Called today (7 days later) got right through, case is open and under review, but not expected to know outcome now until this Friday. I'll keep you informed, but might be a route to discovering how to recover my money! If anyone does pursue legal remedies, let me know if we have a leg to stand on. As in my case pursuing legal action would cost me more than the money involved right now.
