I do agree that you should not have had an hour wait to have your taxes prepared when you made an appointment, but any tax specialist that knows what they are doing and very confident with the software should be able to prepare a return in that time. We work hard to have the knowledge and take many hours of our own time to be able to assist our clients so they do not have to spend the day at our desk when they could be doing something much better. I would not think it a good thing if someone spent much more time than that on a tax return that would mean they may not know what they are doing. So sorry you had to wait so long

You should have verified your bank numbers when they put them in...in the end it is your tax return and your responsibility to make sure it is correct.

They charged me $287.00 and only got a $150.00 refund, which they say, get your refund in 7-14 days, been almost 3 weeks, what a bunch of morons they are. Will never go back there...

Had a situation at my local H&R Block office where the "tax specialist" (who was a barking nimrod)omitted a lot of my information, told me my husband and I owed the state $900, then had the gall to say the cost for their "services" would be almost $300. I collected my W2's and proceeded to leave. She said I could try to do them myself, but that it was doubtful I'd have any different results. Then she said she'd be more than happy to keep the info in the system for me for when I returned. I told her not to bother and left.

I did them through Turbo Tax and while my husband and I did indeed owe the state, it was only $211 and not $900. It was all e-filed and we were only charged $66. H&R Block should spend less on their commercials and more on training their so-called "specialists". I hope people realize that you don't have to file through them just because you visited their office. You can leave at any time and you are not obligated to file through them, even if you've gone through the whole process.

Last year I had one entry on home H$R that wouldn't work no matter what i did. I explaind this and made an appointment with H$R. At the appointment they said that the home program is different and we had to start from scratch. They then charged me $588 for simple taxes plus I still had the $80 I spent for the home program. This year all my data entry went through but their numbers on the tax forms are completely bogus. So now I'm out $50 and a lot of time and I still have to find a tax preparer. There should be a service where you do the best you can and someone fixes the gliches for a reasanable price.

I have gone to HR Block for yrs now. This year I made an appointment as usual. When I arrived (on time) they had me wait in their makeshift waiting rm and a woman kept offering me coffee, even though I told her I dont drink coffee 3 times. After over an hour, I was seen. Nothing changed this year as far as how much I made and stuff. Same as every year. What did change is they charged me $420 this year instead of the regular $200. When it was over they gave me a credit card and explained that in 8-10 days I would get a text that my money was on it and I could use it anywhere... 24 days later I got my money and took the card to my bank and transferred the money and HR Block charged me $25 for using the card!!! I can only assume they are going out of business and are screwing all their customers for every penny they can ! I will NEVER go to HR Block again!!!!

The pathetic reality is H&R Block is nowhere near a tax preparation company, nothing more than "glorified pen and paper pushers" as many on the net would call them.

My experience has been the same as described, it's my opinion that most of these people are unqualified and are only looking after themselves and their jobs.

I have unclaimed health expenses the H&R rep didn't want to include in my return because in her words, there no proof I didn't claim them already with my insurer.

At the end of the day, these expenses are legitimate, and if audited I would have no problems fighting it.

The reality is real chartered accountants charge a fraction of their prices for an all inclusive return and are more competent than H&R Tax School graduates which make decisions that will benefit their company than their clients.

Good thing, every year I tried to deal with H&R they always find a way to chase me away. It's clear I'll never deal with them again.

I went to H&R Block and had a similarly poor experience. I had worked as a contractor so my taxes weren't completely simple, but I had printed and laid out of 3 pages of deductions that the specialist told me I couldn't use. Plus, the entire time he was doing my taxes, he was simply asking another guy for help, and couldn't seem to figure out how to use the computer. In fact, he appeared to be a retiree who had gone back to work on something, but as usual for older people just wasn't quick on the computer. Or on tax law. I ended up paying them $300 for their services, plus owing the government a lot of money (they told me I couldn't use any of the deductions I laid out). I had another accountant look at things the next year, and they got me back hundreds of dollars from the year before by fixing H&R's issues and also using the deductions I had carefully laid out.

Now I use Turbo Tax. Couldn't be happier.

HR isn't worth enough to lick my sack...

I spent 18 years with them as they are the only local solution, the last three years i have been using their website to do it online with HR Deluxe Online. This year they transmit my e-files and the state return gets rejected. I call my states dept of revenue and they tell me the error was due to the first page of my state return form MISSING.. Yeah it was totally MISSING, not just blank or incorrect but actually missing entirely!!

Then after three days beating around the bush with them on the phone they said they would escalate it to their escalations dept... I kid you not thats what they said! So another couple days go by and the escalations dept calls me. They say that they cannot re-file my state return, just not allowed not possible, blah blah blah. I call my states dept of revenue again and explain what i was told, they assured me many times that all i had to do was resubmit as the system was waiting for my return to be re-filed to correct the error. I call HR back and explain this, their are stuck on the fact that it CANNOT BE SENT... Ok fine..

I hung up with HR Block, printed off the return from the website, which has the watermark that says Copy Do Not File, and then i realize they just told me to print it off and mail it in, huh how can i mail in a copy with the watermark on it? The website gave me two options, print and mail, or file return later. Thats it... They said sir you can login and re-file, yeah i can mail it, after paying for them to prepare it and efile it, no thanks. I fought them and finally they refunded the $34.95 for the state return pre and efile. Then i took the printed copy and transferred all those numbers into the proper forms using E-File Express, and what do you know, the option to file state only was there when i went to e-file it.

So i filed it with E-File Express for $7, i was already familiar with it because i used it every year to do my property tax refund as HR Blocks website and agents suck at this and never could get it right. So from now on i will be doing my taxes elsewhere... SO LONG HR BLOCKHEADS

I just did my taxes yesterday, it was almost $500.00, I actually left there feeling violated. I WOULD NEVER USE THEM AGIAN, I am a customer for over ten yrs, enough is enough, they charged $55.00 in banking fees, BANKING FEES GIVE ME A @#$%^&% BREAK. The government needs to investigate them, everybodsy has to file taxes and they charge so much. Heads up if you use H&R Block bring the vaseline, you will need it.

turbotax says I need a cpa to review taxes,ok, so I goto HR block, I was not happy at all. so they stapled all my paperwork, and was going to "hold it" until I file with them. Then I get the price man what a rip $257.00 After I get home, I find errors now they want me to file an amended tax return. I'm not trying to get anyone fired but stay away from this place.
