Rebate checks may stimulate on-time tax returns

There's nothing like a little stimulus to get taxpayers to file on time. As of early April, about 9% more federal tax returns had been filed than at this time a year ago, the Internal Revenue Service said. via AMNY

I cam curious how thisa stimulus package affects those who filed at H&R Block and recieved the card. Does this money go to the card?

I have the card to, and I'm concern as well, does anyone know? I know if you had your refund check deposited into your account then that's how you are going to receive it, but with this card I just don't know.

I talked to the IRS and they told me that if u use the emerald card when u filed your taxes your refund payment would go on it also in may scary!!!!!!!!!!

I tried calling HR Block- ETERNAL HOLD- I am paranoid now too that I will have to wait for a check. I sure hope it goes on my card since that would be SO much faster.

I got through to HR Block- they said payment would be MAILED not put back on the Emerald Card :( BLAST!

If you did an IRS direct deposit to the card (ie, you paid your H&R Block tax prep fees up front and did not do a Refund Loan or a Refund Check), then the IRS will direct deposit to the card. Most people, however, had H&R block withold the cost of the tax prep from their return. If that's the case the IRS gets a temporary account to mail the money to, and thus it will convert into a paper check.

the irs can tell you the exact date your check will be remitted.also irs.gov spells out all the rules and it clearly says we will get a check not a direct deposit!!

I was told by the hr office that prepared my return that the rebate would go onto the emerald card. now after reading all this i am so bummed and unsure where my money is going to go. I also was told everyone would be aware by written info. from the IRS what to expect, That didnt happen either. Thanks Bush, we can always count on you:(~

Was told also that I would get my refund through my H&r Block Card they told me as a reminder in the papers they give you it shows a Direct Deposit account that is attached to your card and thats the way you'll get your money because that account is showed in how your Fed.Return will be deposited -That If you originally had a Ral etc paper check you'd of course get a paper check---So I guess we will all just keep our fingers crossed.....

My husband and I filed married jointly and claimed 2 children. Does that mean we get the 1200 for filing jointly and 300 per child? Or do we just qualify for the 1200?

You will get 1200 plus 300 for each child.

Sheri was incomplete...the amount of the rebate depends on your tax situation, to a maximum of $600 per single person filing,$1200 per person filing, and an additional $300 per child you claim the child tax credit on.

For your exact total, have your copy of the tax return in hand and go to http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/

It's easy to use, just put the #'s from the line on your return in the boxes.
