I have used Defense car oil filters twice now and each time the rubber seal ring has come loose. My furnace man put one on my oil furnace and it leaked to. Does Honeywell have any quality control personal? Does Honeywell have a Reserch and Developement department? I think you need to close the department where you make these things. It seems you are unable to make a quality product.

On the first nice day of the year last month I did what every biker does. I brought my cherished bike of choice out of hibernation by doing the normal maintenance. When doing this I purchased a FRAM oil filter and four quarts of oil. I installed them on my trusty bike and went to bed dreaming of the next morning. Early on the next day at a perfect 40 degrees I fired up my bike gathered a couple friends and took off. A few miles down the road my oil pressure light came on and I brought it to a stop. Once on the side of the road, I was shutting down the engine and it grinded to a stop.
Upset and knowing a serious failure just occurred on my trustworthy machine I immediately located a reputable dealer that would take it right in. The tech assigned to my machine informed me diligently that after testing my oil pump and finding it in perfect order he unscrewed the oil filter and put on a quality Kawasaki filter. That solved the issue and the bike ran with perfect oil pressure. Only downside is the engine knocks and did take on a large amount of internal damage.
I had never heard of a filter malfunctioning and went online to do some research. Found that it is common and I found all the complaints I viewed stemmed from a FRAM filter. At this point I went to FRAMs web site and was pleased to find out that they have easy access to a claims department for these purposes. I went through their procedure and filled out a claim form and sent it in along with the faulty filter (Mistake as it was my only proof). I was promptly replied with an insulting letter thanking me for sending them my (FAULTY) filter but my claim is denied because after flow testing they found whatever filter they tested to work fine.
If you are a biker please do the brotherly thing and do not use products from FRAM, or any of the companies owned by their parent company Honeywell. You think if any of their subpar products damaged your home or vehicle they would stand behind it? They are as follows-

Replaced the oil with a fram oil filter and high end synthetic oil on my Honda minivan as I normally do and have hundreds of times on many different vehicles. Last 2x the filter leaked from the gasket 1 at time shame on them 2nd time is my bad. Should have figures it out fram quality has really fallen.

Just had a Fram filter leak on my new Altima. Turns out the specified filter is wrong. Just sent Fram a request for the $235 clean up costs. Probably end up suing just to make the point.

I will never use a Fram filter again. It's WIX from now on.

I operate an auto repair shop and comonly use AC fiters on GM, Motorcraft on Ford, Mopar on Dodges, and Defense on MOST imports. After about 8 cases, 96 or more filters, I have yet to have a problem with the Defense line. Am I just lucky???????
