Well if you bankrupt a country long enough it will soon become the low cost producer. How long before we are where china outsources its production to us because we are cheaper?

I love it!!! I'm not a huge Honda Fit fan myself but I do love any company that is American owned or foreign owned that actually cares about the worker and the consumer. We are a global economy and I could care less where the company headquarters is located. If only the blood sucking unions could understand and have compassion for America's work force and get the "H" out!

I'll buy a foreign owned American made product any day. Thank you Honda!

If this comes to the US, I bet it will be in a southern right-to-work state to avoid the problems associated with the UAW.

With the dollar in the dumps, it would just make sense to manufacture in the US.

With Ohio's luck, lately, the production will probably go to the Indiana plant.

I don't hear my friends who work at Honda ever complaining about the work conditions or pay there.

What many people may not consider is the fact that the "threat" of unionization because of the presence of the UAW not far away has very likely helped Honda employees get better compensation packages.

that is possible, however japanese companies have much better track records of treating employess better than american companies.one example is that japanese companies use layoffs as a last resort, and unlike american compnies, ceo's don't get bonuses when companie fail.

Japanese autoworkers also still get paid when they shut down plants temporarily. They just go home and collect 70% of their pay or somethign like that until the plant starts up again.

But the union effect is measureable. The farther south you go, the less the autoworkers for foreign companies get paid. That helps keep Ohio's median income well above most southern states. The jobs may come and go from year to year but when they're back, they pay well enough for people to live a respectable life.
