This was just release by Allegiance Specialty Hospital.“We have undergone a lot of recent changes with the closing of Southwest Regional Medical Center, but have come through the changes better equipped to serve our patients”, said Tammy Pace, Administrator for Allegiance.

Allegiance continues to lease the space they currently occupy and now coordinates some ancillary services through Baptist Health. They have added in-house respiratory and radiology departments and recruited a group of highly respected physicians who have implemented a Critical Care Program.“Our Critical Care Program ensures continuity of care to all of our patients and round the clock coverage of their complex medical needs”, said Pace.“LTACH’s are focused on patients with complex medical conditions that require intense, special treatment for at least 25 days. Their unique medical and rehabilitative needs require a specialized setting for optimal recovery. We strive to provide the expertise of a large hospital with the personalized attention of a small hospital.”
Conditions appropriate for an LTACH include: respiratory disorders, cardiac and multi-system failure, ventilator dependence, renal disease, malnutrition, rehabilitation with complex or tertiary needs, complex wound care, re-constructive and extended post surgical care, infectious disease, and the medically complex.
Other services provided at Allegiance Specialty Hospital include daily physician visits, round the clock critical care nursing, Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies, in room dialysis, case management, social services, nutrition therapy, pain management, IV antibiotic therapy, psychiatry, and complex wound management. Physician-led teams meet each week to discuss patient progress.
