Kansas City needs this the plaza can only bring in so much , the prices are too high for most budgets . We need business down town and a curvew to keep the trouble makers away.

Don't just get upset by the demolition. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!
Show Highwoods the FINANCIAL cost of making their customers unhappy by boycotting the Plaza until they agree to change their plans.

There should be a way to make the building aestheticly pleasing in keeping with the Plaza architecture, and still keep the business in the area. Neighbors, plaza patrons and the company would all then be happy.

they don't care about history - just want to say "look how much money we have"...the Plaza DOES NOT need a glass building....

I take back the boycott comment. It was more intended to make a point. It should be the law firm we boycott. Sorry Plaza business owners. Didn't mean to put you in the middle this.

Polsinelli Shughart is doing this so that the Plaza higher-ups and City Hall will run after them and beg them, "Oh please don't move to Johnson County, please, please stay here!!! We don't wanna lose you!!"

Ok Polsinelli Shughart, here's the deal:

If you show this much apathy (more like contempt) for the Plaza as a district and community, we don't WANT you to stay.

Move to Johnson County! And don't ever come back. Take your glass building and put it in Corporate Woods.

The design does not match that of the Spanish Architecture of the Plaza. I have heard for years that there are rules as to what the Architecture for the Plaza is to be followed.

It's an outrage! Keep the integrity of the Plaza intact. An 8 story building on the corner of 47th & Broadway does not fit nor does the proposed architecture of the proposed building. There already sits an eyesore of an unoccupied building on the east side of the Plaza, why don't they take over that newly built building?

Not only are they lawyers, they're magicians -- they're turning a silk purse into a sow's ear.
And the tenants of the apartments that are slated to be razed? They have to relocate now in order that this law firm's ego be well fed.

Folks, this is what they define as PROGRESS.

Great job Kansas City - you've demonstrated once again just how badly you suck.

That was addressed in an interview on TV by the top law dog of the firm. He said it wouldn't be suitable for their needs, so they're not interested. They're more interested in wrecking a historical landmark in order to suit their needs.

My remarks are directed at PolsinelliShugart -"How does this"rape" of the Plaza enhance your presence in this city?? Mr. Polsinelli you grew up here and certainly understand what the Plaza means to the people of this metro area. To imagine that your law firm should take precedence over an historic district known for it's unique architecture is unbelievably self centered and self serving. If anything, the name of your firm will leave a very bitter taste in the mouths of Kansas City residents. Could you consider the greater good for one moment instead of posturing on how grand and important you feel your law firm is?? Look to the West Edge project..another grand and glorious firm who's star is not shining quite so bright.
Maybe there is a lesson to be learned there.

I moved to Kansas City a few years ago and personally I am counting down the days til I can leave, but I will say that the Plaza is the one great place that KC has. Ruining the Plaza by destroying its historic fabric and allowing poorly scaled and detailed buildings will be regretted for years to come. You can't allow this building to be built because once it is built there is no turning back. The Plaza will slowly cease to be Kansas City's last truly great public place and without this great place the city will lose the last ounce of character that it has.

Being a resident of Kansas City, Missouri for over 50 years I have a
passion for the architectural beauty of the Plaza and the life style it offers us and visitors from all over the world. If Highwoods follows through tearing down the Balcony Building our Plaza and residents will suffer a huge loss. I would hope the West Edge would be reconsidered, such a decision would prove a genuine respect of the historic nature of the Plaza and a genuine respect would be returned in kind.
