In my area (Illinois) associates seem to be starting at $14.50 per hour--last two hires at my store. That's the same as when I started 5 1/2 years ago. With pay raises I am over $16.50 now. How does that compare to other parts of the country.

All I can say is "Are you serious?" In the southwest payrates are much lower than Illinois.

Rumor is that all these HR people were making MUCH more than the associates and the department heads.

we should let the union come in and help us get more pay. THE orange box makes to much money to be this cheap to the associates.

DH10yr go ask the computer room for the recent months P&L. Very easy to read. Down at the bottom will be a number after SSC deductions. Your store will run in the %27-30 profitability range. That is with everything in. EVERYTHING. If you are in a 30Million dollar store that is $9 Million dollars. If you are in a 30 million store you will have maybe 100 associates. If all 100 associates owned that building you would each make $90K. But here is the punch line. If those 100 associates make an average of $10 per hour that $30 Million store paid $2.2 Million in payroll. Think if you were organized into a collective and represented as such you could mover the needle and get some of the profit you worked like a dog to create? Yes…you could. If you were in a union you would have the information available to make an informed decision and improve your situation. Get informed or get walked all over. http://www.aflcio.org/joinaunion/voiceatwork/...

I started at 8.75 an hour April 1009. In Garden working my fingers to the bone and lifting thousands of pounds of block, sod, mulch, soil and the likes every week. After one year got a pay raise of .22 cents an hour. I never called in sick or otherwise and always came in on days off when requested. Plus, I was employee of the month for three of the 13 months I worked there..22 cents an hour. What the hell you gotta do to get .50 cents an hour raise????

i was hired in at 9.00 six years ago as a cross merchandiser. i was terminated two weeks ago as an Inventory Specialist at $12.12. So do the math----it took 6 years to get 3 dollars! Doesnt matter if you do your job REALLY good, or just do your job. Those same lazy ass people who are BARELY doing their job are STILL getting a raise. In a REAL company with REAL management and REAL values, those people who didnt do their job wouldn't get a raise. But at Hell Deephole, well, you all don't need me to tell you. Just look at all the posts people are putting up from every store every where. What is it going to take?

Associates looking for a raise, think again. There are no decent raises at HD. They are trying to get the cheapest labor possible. No matter how hard you work, no matter how good you are at your job, no matter perfect attendance and coming in on-call, you are just another warm body and you can be replaced by someone cheaper and just as gullible if not more. Quit complaining. Moving on to another more reputable and decent company is the only answer. You will never get ahead at Home Depot. It is a WASTE OF YOUR LIFE. You don't get extra credit for putting up with bad management. You just get run down and depressed. Leave the depot. It is the only way.

I'm a cashier in #4164 and started at less than $8 an hour. 4164 is seriously dysfunctional. Managers try to hit on female employees, head cashiers wander the parking lot smoking and talking on the cell phone and employees' availability forms are routinely ignored for all but a few favorite ass kissers. Scheduling is based on favoritism and there's never enough coverage for when you need it. I've witnessed customers walk out of the store to go shop at the Lowes down the street after dept. associates ignore a cashier's pages for customer assistance. I've been in retailing for a long time for different types of stores and HD is by far the worst. They treat their cashiers like shit.

Pay-rates have been based on favoritism almost since home depot was started. Lots of lawsuits about it and I am sure lots more to come. You need to be organized because the managers and execs are VERY organized. Get informed or get walked all over.
