The National Labor Relations Board issued new regulations on Thursday that require companies to put posters on their bulletin boards that inform employees about their rights to unionize under federal law.

Under the new regulations, businesses would have to display notices that explain the right to bargain collectively, to give out union literature and to work together to improve wages and conditions free of retaliation.

I think the ratio has always been about 40/60. How would that get rid of tenured workers?

i think you'll see that 40/60 ratio creep towards something more like 25/75... greedy f__ks in atlanta care only of themselves. i wouldn't expect anything different.

Miami - Wake up and smell the coffee. They can't fire you for trying to unionize a store but they can stil for you for no reaon whatsoever. If there ever was a hollow victory this new regulation is it.

Back in the 1990's, HD had near 80% FT employees. After Nardelli was hired, the "WalMartization" of HD began, and it continues today under the "guidance" of Frank Blake.

The HD that I worked at a few years ago was 80% part-time. That number would drop right around this time when many of the part-timers either leave or have less availability. The part-timers that do neither gets hired to full-time to make up for the loss. It's not that big of a deal really. There aren't many people at the store consider their job at HD a career. The old full-timers are all retired and just want to fill their time with something to do. The entire front-end is made up of college students in their 20s.

yes, you see it as i do!! no real training, people are starting at $8.50 an hour in our store now!!!, promotions within the store that are un-deserved; but they probably got away with not paying these people much more. and the general attitude form management is to hide, cover-up, and lie whenever possible. management is doing some wild and unbelieveable things and atlanta is right behind it!

A long time full time associate(high paid due to seniority)that switched to part time because of termination of a prior written employment agreement which required fixed hours is now getting little or no hours. Could this be discrimination(over 40) or just the new scheduling system or ILLEGAL scheduling based on hourly rate or all of the above.

Logic would dictate that the new scheduling system would schedule the highest paid part timers the least amount of hours...but I don't think that's illegal. We are not on the new system yet but in my department when it's slow and they need to send somebody home they usually send the highest paid people, when they need extra help they usually call the lowest paid part timers in and I think thats pretty much standard procedure.

I love all the murder and gang bang movies because they are my type of people. I love to make inane comments because I have nothing important to say or contribute.

One of the core values of HD was to have knowledgeable associates. With the new FAST system and letting a computer determine who works when will get away from that and ultimately make the customer suffer. As a specialist, I think it is somewhat comical that your availability sheet which shows your sister departments does not take into account what your specialty might be. I had to laugh because I am a seasoned specialist and to think some of the other employees could ever provide the information to customers they get from professionals is ignorant at best. Maybe HD doesn't care, but in the long run it will hurt them. It is the old "Can't see the trees for the forest" scenario. They've certainly stirred up the pot with this one and should rethink and go back to the old way until they can figure out what will work better. Hopefully Frank will see this. Take care.

My husband and I are long timers at the Depot. Seventeenish years. The last 9, we worked opposite schedules because we had a baby and wanted to raise him ourselves and not stick him in daycare. With this new scheduling my son will now come home from school and be by himself until 6 or 7 at night...totally unacceptable. I'm thinking the computer has no kids or a life. Happy people are productive people and morale in the store with this FAST system is at an all time low. The level of customer service is suffering and the VOC scores are going to plummet. I hope someone of importance sees this. This is the worst idea to ever roll out.

let's not forget one basic, simple fact. HOME DEPOT doesn't give a shit about you, your husband, your schedule, your child, you life. They don't think anything through when they implement something. I swear there is a group of idiots sitting around at corporate coming up with stupid shit for the stores to do. It is THE worst place to work. The most immoral, unethical, manipulative, lying, ass kissing, sacks of management shit I ever worked with and for. I could only hope that the customers do suffer. And Frank Blake doesnt give a shit about what happens in the stores. He has his yes people to do what needs to be done to make everything look PEACHY.

Daily Horoscope for June 19

Libra

Going shopping today? Then don't be surprised if you splash out on items that are that little bit different from your usual purchases. For instance, if you set off for the supermarket you might end up buying lots of exotic ingredients so you can experiment with them. This is unlikely to get out of hand unless you're feeling bored or fed up, in which case you'll want to spend your way out of your current mood.
