All i can say is that this position is a joke, anyone can be a PRO cashier. At my store we have a cashier that cries if her schedule is changed from her FIXED pro schedule and gets her/him way. See the HER/HIM thats means we are not sure if she is a woman or a guy.

I am a pro cashier. The difference is that in order to be a pro cashier your specs must be up to par. Nothing under a 9.10 on VOC also you need to have to keep the amount of commercial cards as high as possible. Your dealing also your dealing with higher bills. Contractors and business owners. You will always have customers that are always spending over 100 bucks. Its just a bigger responsibility is all. No pay raise or anything. But it looks good! Also its full time. Hope i helped!

CORRECTIONS TO PREVIOUS POSTS:
1) ALL cashiers go to "cashier unniversity", not just pro cashiers.
2)In our store, the bilingual cashier is usually the pro-cashier (Bosnian/English because we get many Bosnian-speaking customers so it is good mainly for store PR among the Bosian contractors, but occasionally pro cashier is called upon to translate, so it saves time from searching for a translator all around the store)
3) As far as the actual job requirements it is identical to regular cashier.
4) Is probably no difference in pay as far as can tell from what other cashiers get paid
5) It is Not always full time,
6) If you call being able to count to $100 or more a bigger responsibility, then yes it has more responsibility
7) Since Pro Desk is way across the front end of the store from where the head cashier operates from, people who cannot focus on the customers (but love to focus on playing on Pro Desk computer or socialize with Pro Desk associates)
without constant, direct supervision usually aren't put there for long periods of time.
8) If "keep the commercial cards as high as possible" means "try to get contractors to open up commercial charge accounts", then yes, that is what is desired. On the other hand, ALL cashiers are expected to try and get more people to open up Home Depot charge accounts. And it is actually EASIER to get a contractor to open up a commercial account than it is to get other customers to open up consumer accounts because commercial accounts have more benefits to them.

At our store they wanted this one certain person. So they said the pro cashier had to speak spanish. What a crock o shit… making up those rules again.
