Its all good getting paid 150K a year to go work in a war zone as a civilian contractor until you get blown up.

Its a WARZONE people you need to ask yourself "how bad do I need this money?"

It's absolutely horrible that your brother was killed, but I have been through the training by KBR. They are VERY clear on the fact that you are going to a war zone and that it is EXTREMELY dangerous. I think it's amazing that they have as few accidents as they do over there. If you had ever been over there, you would know that it is chaos, it's hectic and its difficult, but there is no one over there (KBR, the US Military or any other company) being careless or neglegent - certainly not on purpose. They are doing something which has never been done before in the harshest possible conditions. I am truly sorry for what happened to your brother, but all of us knew exactly what we were getting ourselves into and we understood the risks. Try working in a war zone, mixing thousands and thousands military and civilians, multiple companies, people from just about every country on the planet, with people who would kill you in a second if they had the chance and see if you can do it totally mistake free.

Well, I wont pretend to know what its like to loose a loved one over there, but I was over there for a year and my brother is also there now. We have talked at length about the possibility that one of us could get (or could have gotten) seriously injured or killed and I dont like to even think about it.

However, I will just say again that from everything I saw when I was there, the Military and KBR are doing about the best job possible under the conditions. I'm not saying they shouldnt be held accountable if mistakes were made. What I am saying is that KBR and the US Military were very good to me, treated me fairly and did everything they could to keep me safe. While they may not be perfect - While mistakes have been made - While many things need to be improved.....they are not the Devil. I believe they are doing a better job than just about any other company could do.

Again, I am terribly sorry for your loss. It always made me sad when I heard about fellow drivers hurt or killed.

On one other thing, you are incorrect on one point. It was not KBR who shot your brother. KBR employees are not allowed to carry weapons. Even KBR security officers do not carry weapons. They have access to small arms in case of emergency, but they dont carry them and they certainly dont handle large calliber weapons.
