Wow, big surprise here. I work in the oil industry. They are the most safety orientated business in the world. Safety has priority over everything. I have seen tens of thousands of dollars spent shutting down jobs over the smallest of events. Saving a dollar over the safety of the job has never happened on the work that I have witnessed. I am glad that the public is finally getting the truth as to this small part of the oil rig disaster. please do not get me wrong....I think BP and their subcontractors really blew it, but it was not to save a buck by being unsafe.
