I also heard that there were going to be more layoffs coming VERY soon, DSW. Of course, no mention of it in our "newspaper," The Duncan Banana (Banner) or other media. More "regular working stiffs" getting canned while the "fat cats" get richer.

LOL our paper don't tell a whole lot about nothing. I get most of my news from KSWO....I am waiting for all the new banks up and down 81 to start closing from lack of business :)

Originally from Marlow, haven't been in a few years. I love that town "leave it to beaverville" and that's a compliment.

Have a tiny bit of royalty there, what's happening in the oil field?

Thanks, I knew the area was really hot for awhile, but it seems to have cooled off. Here's hoping for the best.

Halibuton married into Humphries clan of Spindletop fame so he got a good start. I should clarify as a Humphries girl married a Story and it was their daughter than married Haliburton.

Many of the people that were laid off will get anywhere between $6oo -$800 a WEEK unemployment benefits with Halliburtons cobra insurance costing a mere $90 -$175 month for health, vision, and dental coverage. Just because Halliburton laid off their employees, doesn't mean their not still taken care of them.
Cobra insurance is available when ANY job ends for 2 months but YOU have to pay the the monthly fee to get it. Kind of hard to do when you are out of a job.!! OLDER EMPLOYEES ARE GETTING LAID OFF AND NEW HIRES COME ON CHEAPER... Just get ready, your turn will come if you last long enough.
