Does Guitar Center do even exchanges with guitar strings (without a receipt)?

I asked the guy at check out a couple of weeks ago for medium (45-105) bass strings and he gave me medium light (45-100) instead. I was in a rush that day because I was leaving for vacation that night and didn't bother looking in the bag. My father threw out the bag with the receipt in it when I got back. All I have is the unopened plastic case with the strings still coiled in their respective "envelopes".
So now what kind of evidence can I bring to prove this purchase?
Do they have my purchase in my records since im a member?(I payed in cash though unfortunately)
Do they even do even exchanges with strings?
If the cashier doesn't approve do you think if I ask for the manager and explain my story the manager will do the exchange so I can get the strings I asked for?
I remember what the guy looked like who did the transaction (but if he's not there I can't get his name)
I'm going tomorrow so any information and advice you can give me to help me out here is greatly appreciated.

If you gave them your name they will have your transaction on file. Don't open them up
