I just got the new iPad 3. I want to use it for mobile recording studio. I already own a Rode NT2A which I wanted to buy the Alesis IO Dock to use with it but I'm afraid the preamps will cheapen the sound of the Rode and the Alesis IO Dock only records in 16 bit. Since the Apogee MiC is a pure digital connection I would think the noise will be significantly less and it also records at 24 bit. But the Alesis Dock is attractive since it has all the inputs/outputs on one device (xlr, 1/4", midi, etc).
If I buy the Apogee MiC then I would eventually but the Apogee JAM for Electric Guitar recordings.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. Also I get a 50% off discount at my job and we carry the new Beats Pro headphones which is geared for recording engineers (drops the price from $400 to $200), this will be the headphones I will use for mixing since I cannot use monitors because of the noise factor. Does this setup look good to you guys
