Saw on the Driving Farce site that the trailer received calls about cameras in work areas...has anyone seen the cameras? I looked all around my department & the roadway, and didn't see anything. Had to figure they'd do something like that while we were out - to keep an eye on the scabs, but they can't be there without the union being notified.

Just wondering where these new cameras are.....anyone know?

The union was notified, and the cameras were supposed to have been installed under the guise of doing health and safety studies. Technically, they can video any of the workstations, but not break areas.

There are 3 cameras as you walk in from the employee entrance. 1 looking at the entrance,1 looking at the vending machines and the last 1 looking at the infomation boards. As for others I don't know where and I couldn't care less. If they want to watch me doing my job let them they might learn something. I think we all should shoot them the MOON !!!LOL

You have no idea what you are talking about! The union was not aware of any new cameras, & they cannot be in work areas. They are in areas for security reasons only. And the union must be notified.

You have no idea what you are talking about! The union has to be notified about any cameras in the plant, and they cannot be in work areas. Security purposes only.

Where the tunnel meets the roadway? I'll have to check those out - thanks for the info. Why didn't they put one facing down towards the front of the plant towards the offices, I wonder.....

Robbin - cameras in the plant can only be for security purposes, & the union has to be notified.

Where the tunnel meets the roadway? Thanks for the info. Wonder why they didn't aim one down towards the front offices.

I think you might want to investigate further. Companies get a lot of leeway when using safety for justification. Why would you not want cameras on the workstations?

Check out dept 237 where the buffers are. They are posted up for the new robot trucks that will transport the tires to the warehouse.

Contract says union has to be notified about all cameras. And cameras in work areas could be used for time studies on machines. All time studies must be conducted with a company & union time study representative.

Just a response to another blog - company is monitoring and deleting what they want to on this site:

This is the second time I have had to put this response into the forum. Goodyear must be monitoring this forum, and anything they don’t like they delete. So much for FREEDOM OF SPEECH, especially from the privacy of my home.

RESPONSE: Don’t you think others faced financial hardships during the strike? We don’t know the three scabs here who crossed? They are obviously SELF-CENTERED, heard they had marital problems (they were cheating on their spouses), and gambling problems. Quite the role model….but the scabs should not even be an issue here – OHIO is NOT a right to work state, the three scabs resigned from the UNION, and AKRON is a totally UNION SHOP. It will be left up to the courts to decide. When is all of this going to end you say? When Goodyear stops nurturing such a HOSTILE work environment. At the first day back meeting, donuts had been purchased (NOT by Goodyear) as a courtesy gesture at the meeting. We have been told that the PLANT MANAGER did not want the donuts in the meeting, how petty. Goodyear further continued its obviously aggressive, deliberately hostile environment, by removing all chairs, radios, etc. that have been in the factory for decades, another attempt to RETALIATE against its hourly union workforce. The courts will have to intervene, unless Goodyear stops this practice and starts acting like “TEAM” players and working as a group for the betterment of the company going forward.

Because they are afaird that they will get caught goofing off and get fired. You would not mind the cameras unless you have something to hide.

Maybe you will find one in your companies bathroom. Then everyone will know you are full of crap! Do you have GY tatooed on your butt? You sure do sound like it. No one wants a camera on them, not even you. Now come back and tell me you would not mind it... and I am gonna say... "Here's your sign." Your probably playing on the companies PC right now.
