I shaved my head, bought a second-hand suit, and I follow folks around in the furniture store. I been fired for sexual harassment just for trying to sell a lady a bed, but I keep smiling, and following the customers. I do what I can. But I did not, and will not cross the line. I will wait with my union brothers and sisters. What are the names of your scabs, who used to be you co-workers? Are you angry the betrayed you? I think they should all move to China. That's where the jobs are, and they're helping send them more!

"Mike Allen ... If you are going to cross next week , you should have never walked out to begin with. We all have already invested almost 2 months into this strike , Why give up the fight now ? We are winning this strike !!! You will be labeled the same as the men who walked back in on the first day.
I don't know your financial situation but it cannot be any worse than mine.I DO NOT intend to go back into that plant until we are given a decent contract.Even if I lose everthing I own , when this is over I will still have my family (bill collectors cannot take that away),my integrity (they can't take that either),and the RESPECT of my Union Brothers and Sisters.
To all those who love to bring up Christmas , I have 2 sons , both of which have been given more than they need since I started with Goodyear. Both of them fully understand why I am on strike and they both are aware Christmas is going to be sparce this year. We as a Family decided this year to bring my parents from Maryland to North Carolina and to enjoy that day together. My boys are tickled. Christmas is not about the material things , it is about your family , and as I stated earlier , no bill colector can take that away from you. This is a test for all of us , and in the end we will all come out of this stronger.

Aren't you "LIVING in a MOTEL?". Nothing much to do except cross a picket line and build scrap tires? I hope while you are in lonely arms motel your wife runs off with your best friend. You don't feed your dog it will go to the neighbors. <grin>

Oh Mikey, you didn't answer our question in this forum - wherein you insinuated GY was going to get GY employees from overseas to run production here in the US. Believe you told a little fibber - because if GY was indeed bringing those employees over, they would have to have procured legitimate business visas for them to work in the US - unless they were doing something illegal. That could take up to a year due to stringent research after 9/11. Hmmmm. The USWA will have to call the Justice Department to see if the appropriate business VISA's have been filed. They can then protest the approval of said VISA's since an American can do the job so the VISA's will ultimately be denied. And if some of those "GY overseas employees", by chance, "sneak" into this country, we will need to have the IRS involved to ensure they are paying all applicable taxes - wouldn't want tax evasion added to GY's SEC and ERISA problems, would we? The Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Labor is watching. Oh today, marks the 5th anniversary of ENRON, pretty appropros don't you think?

I did not say they were going to, I just said that there were experienced workers in the other countries and that Goodyear could bring them over temporarily.

What is your definition of winning??? No one is talking, families are undergoing serious financial hardship, and we are financially hurting the company we want to go back to. Who is winning????Yes, you have heard people talk about Christmas and many have younger children who may not understand what and why things are happening - you are fortunate. What I am asking you is why is this strike continuing without our union representing us? How can you continue to ask people to keep holding the line when they are losing their homes, their insurance, and the bill collectors are knocking. Please don't underplay what some members are dealing with in their homes in order to support a strike that we know very little about. Most people know the true meaning of Christmas - this debate is over giving our families the basic needs in life so stop downplaying it. If this union wants our continued support then they better start doing the job they are paid to do - oh, yes they are still receiving a check - get back to the table and give us a contract to vote on - enough is enough!

HERE'S WHAT YOU SAID: What if they bring over some of the trained employees from some of the overseas plants? I guess they would never think that far ahead? Just face it, you tried intimidation insinuating that GY would bring in temps from overseas. We called your hand on it. Why don't you admit you were bs-ing? Better yet, instead of GY trying to work with their USWA employees, they would even think up such a ludacrous idea? The airfare for such a voluminous group of illegal aliens would put the company under for sure. Why doesn't Goodyear just put the money back into the Health Care fund that they spent under the Gibara administration? They spent something that wasn't for them. If they would do this and honor the covenant they made to the retirees, then we would open up for further negotiations.

First you try to say that you feel bad for those who may be hurting and then you attack on this posting. How dare you try and judge anyone - you don't know anyone's situation so you can not assume that because they are having financial difficulty that they are living beyond their means - have you ever heard of the word illness??? I do agree with them and I do know something about what is going out on the lines - do you?? Have you really heard what is going on? I am glad that you and your family are ones that can hold that line for 2 years - most people can't. It is time that the union get back to work doing what they are getting paid to do - unless you think it's ok that they receive a paycheck for doing nothing.

In all fairness to Mike, I think he may have just been asking a rhetorical question, and he did not have any understanding of the legal and logistical issues involved. I think you are beating a dead horse. Bringing experienced workers from overseas is not a legally viable solution for GT.
That being said, the airfare would not be that significant.

I agree with you, I have a child with a serious medical problem, what is going to happen when my insurance runs out. Do you think I'm gonna sit here and watch my child suffer because of greedy, one minded people who care for no one but themselves? HELL NO!! I cannot afford to pay cobra, especially with her medicines. Some of her meds are not even covered under our med plan! So until they walk one day in my shoes, they have no right to open their pie hole.
