If using the search terms is grounds for a block (illegal) then they should have a right to know so they can avoid accidental noncompliance.

You can't avoid censorship if you're not even allowed to know what's censored.

Google search results can have a subtle but harmful effect on people's opinions. If you Google image search "Filipina girls" and compare it to "American girls" you'll know what I mean. The Filipina girls search result is dominated by pictures of nude young girls whereas the American girls search result is not. Why is this the case when the U.S. is the world's leading producer of porn?

Whether Google is deliberately trying to tarnish the reputation of Filipinas or the results are just the product of some complicated algorithm that only a few Google employees understand, the need for censorship exist because the search result itself can be subversive. I don't think any country really feels comfortable with a foreign company having this kind of power.

It is probably not illegal to 'access' a blocked site it is only that they contain material that are considered subversive or harmful to minors. To have a law that made 'access' illegal would be virtually impossible to enforce so a bad law and a block is a more civilised solution.

The other day a list of words was published that will get you added to a watch list in the USA if you use them on the internet. Based on some of the words used I can imagine that everybody in the USA must be under surveillance.

How many times do I need to debunk this bullshit! Just for the experiment I even tried "Zoo XXX' and got forth thousand something sites! Just ask yourself where "Google" got its' seed money from. Not there is an eyeopener about freedom!! Except for FLG and some (but not all) "Free Tibet" sites I can get 99% of what I search for. The crap about the blocked internet is only ever told to us by people OUTSIDE China. Where again, aren't all the China experts all outside China?

As everyone knows, this has nothing to do with porn (which is freely available on every streetcorner in China for a dollar) but everything to do with politics.

The essential question is: should the Chinese people be kept ignorant by their own government and not even be allowed to see how ignorant the dictatorship must keep them?

That's how it is in China.

Nice to see that Google isn't being totally subservient to the PRC dictatorship these days. Some warning of surveillance by the Communist security forces is no doubt much appreciated by Chinese attemtping to communicate freely.

She started early...ran away from home to LA and started making porns. ALL of her pre-age-of-consent films are now illegal, and considered child porn under U.S. law.

It's an absurd lie that American children "don't need permission from their parents to make porn films." There's no such thing as "parental permission" for the commission of a seriously illegal act.

Then why are they blocking access to the name of their own president? Shouldn't he want more people to vote for him?

And why aren't there ever female communist dictators?
