Why would it matter? You and the others will bash it because it is not an import from japan.

Au contrare, if it got over 30 mpg highway, I would certainly consider buying it.

I liked the old design Vue much better. The new one weighs 800lbs more than the old one and the reliability and performance from the Honda SOHC motor (yes, GM turned to Honda) was unparalleled.

Thats DUMB to come out with a vehicle that weighs MORE! That cancels out a lot of any mpg gains.

No it is not. Teh extra weight is largely due to SAFETY EQUIPEMENT. How is that dumb ????!?

Also, if the vehicle is so bad why is it getting such good reviews? I think someone might be out to get GM hence the negative comments posted above.

Because the heavier it gets, the worse mpg it gets. And the EPA has not changed the safety regs to my knowledge so I doubt its safety equipment due to the 800 pound increase. More likely sloppy engineering.

And the switch to heavy metal body panels instead of the novel polymer panels that debuted on the original VUE.

Also, the Honda 3.5L SOHC VTEC powertrain offered the same power with less weight and sophistication. GM gave the VUE the complex 3.6L DOHC motor.

Now that I believe. I'll bet the GM motor costs less than the honda. Same for the polymer. I'll bet steel is cheaper. The accountants rule at GM.

While you two speculate, the Vue is still getting better MPG.

You guys can't have it both ways. If GM gave is a pushrod engine, you guys would be saying that it is prehistoric. Now that it has a DOHC, you site it as "complex" - with a negative connotation.

You speak with two tongues.

Excellent comment! Most of the people on here are less than knowledgeable and line up to take shots at anything GM.

It is true, the new VUE is severely overweight versus the previous model and the new powertrains are lackluster.

3.6 lackluster? I am sure it is the same one used in the CTS and coming out in the new Camaro. At 300hp, far from it! I know, we can't praise it because it is not a jap engine.

I am not concerned about the 3.6 litre engine's sophistication. And does the 3.6 have cylinder deactivation? My concern is the weight increase of 800 pounds.

The 3.6L DOHC in the VUE is not the same 300hp model as that in the CTS and upcoming Camaro. The newer 3.6L has direct injection and has higher specific output.

The V6 in the VUE is "de-tuned".

I think it may be similiar to the new Traverse we got in today. It has a direct injected version of the 3.6 with aprox 260hp.
