Rumor has it they are shuttering Pontiac truck plant. Looks like Shreveport may stay open.

Three options for Shreveport IMO.(Considering Hummer will sale quickly)
They close the plant (not likely)
Shut down for awhile and retool.
Build the no selling Colorado/Canyon for fleet to please CAFÉ.
They need to do something with Colorado and Canyon. Two shift production won’t cut it with just this mix, and one shift is going to hemorrhage more $. Use the Stamping plant to plunk parts for something else? They were running three shifts here for the South American H3, now that’s going too.

What a shame, why did GM mess up with the mini trucks? S10 was a great seller in its time, the current Colorado and Canyon look ugly and they are not competitive. Big 3 need a Blandyota Highlander competitor, now!!! Explorer, TrailBlazer, and Durango are all too big to compete, not to mention the TrailBlazer has been barely touched in 8 years.

S10 sold great because of the 4-cylinder CAFE offset it provided. GM would lease them for $99/month so it could get more CAFE credit to sell Suburbans, Silverados, and Tahoes. Those trucks had ridiculously low resale and dangerously slow acceleration.

Now the Trailblazer was truly yesterday's hero and GM failed to make any evolutionary improvements on it, shame on them. The Trailblazer still remains a great value for someone looking to move people and moderate towing capacity.
