Toyota Sales Plummet 32 Percent

Oriental Toyota Motor Co. saw plummeting sales again as the car maker tries to reclaim its slipping quality ratings. With such disappointing offerings, plain styling, and failing transmissions, the company seems to be in a downward spiral.

When a Camry and a Highlander count for 50% of your sales, and the Tundra can’t even outsell the aged F150, you’re in trouble. Glad to see toyoda is finally going down.

"Toyota going down"

“Lexus Goes Down Without a Fight”

Oriental Toyota’s Lexus Division continues to decline. At an average of $18K more retail, even Mercedes outsold the pitiful Lexus line again. Finally people are beginning to realize Lexus is simply a candy coated toyoda. When a Camry and a Highlander count for 50% of your sales, and the Tundra can’t even outsell the aged F150, you’re in trouble. Glad to see toyoda is finally going down.

They have been setup to fail for awhile and their products aren't quite on the spot. They have a ton of products, but most are not what people are looking for. Their cars are old, even the new Corolla, and their trucks, CUVs, and SUVs are not cutting edge and are behind the segment leaders (except for the Tacoma) and it just got an anal exam from the government due to the sudden acceleration issue. Many owners are literally fuming about the decision. The waters are getting even rougher soon.

"Funny, stuff" hahahah, once again another bit of STBs grammar.
Anyway, its ironic you call them the little 3 when GM has a much larger US market share than Toyota. You are either totally blind or you are just repeating what Truckin told you. Just because an automaker WAS increasing in sales, doesnt make GM suddenly SMALL!! GM is still at the top, and it will be. Happy 100th anniversary to GM!!

This is about the economy. With credit tight, no one is selling cars.

Oh, GM Toyota Honda and Nissan are all selling cars. You need to remember that Toyoda has a MUCH more car based lineup than GM. If you subtract the Silverado and Sierra from GM's results, the declines are comparative, exception this month, you will find that GM’s sales declines are more in check if not lower than Toyoda. When Toyoda is doing great people want to go on and on about how they make the right product decisions and are the leaders in hybrids but those facts are not mentioned when Toyota posts a 30% sales drop. How can Toyoda drop that much with one of the most efficient lineups in the industry?

Yeah, I was surprised GM dropped 16% and toyota dropped 30%. I don't know how much of GM's 16% is due to full size pickups, but its gotta be a part of it to be sure. I would say GM dropped much less than toyota. Drop in pickup truck sales for both are probably close. And you're right, I would have bet you that with toyota mpg efficent models, it would have dropped less than GM. The only thing I can think of is GM had the employee discount last month, and the credit crunch really smacked toyota hard.
