I hope they can change thier product line up to help out with peoples needs. We seem to be at the end of the good old days. (Full sized trucks and SUV's)

Exactly correct, Ray.
If GM can produce quality vehicles fairly priced the company can flourish, if not, blame the unions, blame the economy, blame import cars, blame Bill and Hillary, but the buck stops in Detroit.

I've owned 3 vehicles in my lifetime. A Ford, a Pontiac and a Honda. The Ford needed a radiator at just 20K miles, valve job at 30K miles and major engine work at 65K miles. The Pontiac was not much better having numerous small parts like sensors on the engine go bad, 3 alternators, 2 brake master cylinders replaced and one thrown rod that left me stranded 10 miles from home. The Honda Civic is now 6 years old. Apart from one new battery, a brake job and routine oil changes, it has NEVER been in the shop for a major repair ever and it starts and runs every time. Why can't GM build cars like Honda does? If they can do it so can GM.(I guess??)

I always find it kind of funny that some people can't seem to be able to buy a good American car or truck. I have owned GM and Ford products for years, had excellent service from them. Put down the CAR & DRIVER magazine which teels you what to buy,and do some thinking for yourself. I can almost bet your one of these big liberal pro-union guys who talk the talk about loving the union worker, but in reality wouldn't lower yourself to buy one of thier vehicles like me. Park the toy, grow up,and buy a car. PS: Do you know how fricken hard it is to scrape a damn Honda out from under one of my fenders?

yes let's blame bill and hillary for this....let's not even pretend that this war in the middle of the oil producing region hasnt sent oil prices through the roof which has all but killed future for big vehicles here in the USA.we'll continue to sing the praises of GW Bush even tho when we lay down at night we secretly wonder how long it will be until his wretched foreign policies or blundering economic steps will cost us our job too.

We have had 2 Gm vehicles all my life as a child and now as a parent we brought home our first child in a 1987 large van and she is now 26 and we have a 93 safari and its still going strong. Everyone has their stories about lemon vehicles. Lets start telling the stories about the cars or vans that have run for ever If you dont want to suppoort your community or city, dont but try selling your house if General Motors goes down.

Lemme get this straight. Are you honestly suggesting that the reason that samller more fuel-effecient cars are more popular than gas-sucking road-monsters is due to some conspiracy between liberals and, oh G-d I can't believe I'm saying this, CAR AND DRIVER????

Let me guess, you blame the existence of Bed, Bath & Beyond on a secret pact between The ACLU and Martha Stewart?

Wait! Even worse than that, maybe the switch to CPVC pipe is all due to the machinations of Ace Hardware and Osama Bin Laden!

the point was Car and Driver mag. wont recomend it if it doesnt run on rice....and there are american vehicles that are just as good,if not better. Ive seen people had prob.with every car....the 6 cyl lexus/toyota engine were blowing at 60k miles,,,,5k people were stuck with this engine that had engine flaws in it....they had to take Lexus to court to get new engines...and Lexus had the arrogance to say,,,,our engines wont blow at 65k even though it was thier fault,,,because they are the mighty Toyota......and out here,,there are tons of cars ( chevy, ford) that are well over 200k without alot of problems.

Great, and that would actually make it a valid statement if it weren't full of more holes than, well... I've been sitting here wracking my brain to try and come up with a proper analogy but there's nothing on the planet that has more holes than that statement, so let me start over...

Great, and that would actually make it a valid statement if it weren't full of more holes than that statement.

The fact remains that due to cultural differences, European and Eastern Asian car manufacturers have more experience with making small, fuel-efficient vehicles designed for cities and other enclosed urban areas.

If this rather fundemental equation causes distress, then might I suggest doing something about it, like, say, moving to another dimension where history evolved differently,'cause that's pretty much the only way you're gonna get around it.

I was happy when I read and watched on CNBC that they were going to cut the jobs of the white collar worker, where it should be at. Mismanagement at the office level and the lack of vision of GM is the biggest reason for the lack of sale by the automaker, I hate it when ignorant @ssholes blame the union workers for poor sales against Japanese cars when it is the business and R&D is to blame for engineering a poor product that didn’t appeal to the consumer.

I expect any minute that the Idians or the Chinese will buy GM. The Indians bought Land Rover, why not GM. The Congress would sit by and let this happen because they are incompetent and dont care. If we dont wake up, pretty soon we will all be walking arond with IPODs and Cell Phones glued to us. until the time comes to pay the bill and that we will have to send the money to China. We dont make anything in this country anymore. We cant live off love and air because no one loves this country anymore or anyone else and the air is being polluted by these people who sell us cheap tricks. Wake up we need something new in WASHINGTON BESIDES A BUNCH OF INCOMPETENT BUFFOONS.Wake up the next time you vote, it might saave this country.

Not valid,,,,C and D as well as consumers recomended Toyota Camry before it came out,and theres been so many problems and recalls that the mag said it will never recomend a car unless they drove it first!!!! They recomend Cars before they drove them> Great mag for recomending cars hah? Im not talking about just small cars...the Ford Fusion is light years better then the Nissan Altima but yet..........

No, we're not in a recession..........

Now that I've got that off my chest I just wanted to note that, due to my growing family, I bought a Dodge minivan in 1994. It's been a good, solid vehicle and is still running just fine. When it came time for another vehicle in 2002, I bought a second Dodge minivan. I have to say that the newer van is a mere shadow of its predecessor. More of a tribute to American cost-cutting than engineering. In short, it's a piece of crap compared to the '94 van. I'm not the only one noticing this. I have plenty of friends who have voiced the same concerns and have all said that they would consider an import before a domestic vehicle the next time they purchase.

Car & Driver? Nah! I started subscribing to Consumer Reports about 2 years ago and now use them to guide my purchasing decisions, and while I may not win the national publishers clearinghouse subscription million-dollar prize, I must say that Consumer Reports is one of the few GOOD magazines I have read and I've found their Annual Auto Reports issue to be flawless and accurate.

they recomended the toyota Camry before they drove it,and there was so many flaws with it and its lack of quality, they will never recomend a car in its first year. Ive seen great cars get squat from them and cars that are not as good get the seal of approval.

All union workers should take out their frustrations and disappointments on the liberal leftist politicians.

They are the ones responsible to the soaring fuel prices. As we all witnessed, these prices have a snowball effect. EVERYTHING costs more.

We have as much oil in the States as Iran or Iraq has. Liberals prevent us from drilling these vast and rich oil reserves in our own back yard.

VOTE THE LIBERAL BASTARDS AND BITCHES OUT OF OFFICE IN NOVEMBER. VOTE AGAINST ANY AND ALL LIBERALS !!!!

The only issues these liberals are in favor of is homosexuals. This is their top most priority.

Your very own children are being indoctrinated into the homosexual life style in public schools.
